My Favorite Show Of All Time(That I attended)
First off Baby blue was not played first set or at all (sorry)
This show should be a release from dead.net
If you give it a listen (pay particular attention to tuning and and tones of singing)They were 100% ON this night you can tell THE BOYS were having alot of fun
to all nahsayers of 90 shows YES vince's high singing is a little much at times but when did we start focusing on the negative instead of the positive
Jer' kept him aroyund for a reason if you listen to they're interaction particularly after Bruce left (which don't get me wrong)I love what Bruce brought to the table
but..
the back and forth between Jerry and Vince was amazing near the end listen to some 94 shows
Enough STIGMA OF 90'S SHOWS
RELEASE THE CRACKIN'
For what its worth
I am also a die hard DRUMZ fanatic so that will clear some things up for some I guess
Stay positive Brethren
Day off
The only show of the run i didn't get into was the first night and after hearing about the Help>slip>Fire i was determined not to miss the rest. I didn't! Being a grower at the time helpred a LOT, and that's all I'll say about that. The above comment is correct Baby Blue wasn't played this night and Box of Rain should take it's place in the setlist. THere are a few things that stand out from this night the Box being the most cosmic, so I'll tell y'all about the day off.
Me and my buddy Mike were kickin' around dowton Boston on the day break, when, from across the actual Boston Garden i saw Phil and his family. I turned to Mike and was like "hey man, that's Phil" "no it's not man, he's too short" "no man, THAT is Phil fucking Lesh and I'm gonna go say thank you" "dude you're being an idiot, it's not Phil" It WAS in fact Phil. "excuse me, Phil?" "Hey man, what's up?" "I just wanted to say thank you" "oh, well that's nice, you're very welcome" at this point I turn to walk away, all I wanted to do was thank the man, not interrupt his day or draw attention to him "how're you enjoying the day off?" at this point I have a real life DeNiro "you talkin' to me?" moment yet somewhow remained calm "I'm having a great day man Boston is cool, this is the first time I've been here" "Yeah we really like it here, this is my wife Jill" brief nods "alright man we gotta go we gotta get the kid back to the hotel he's pretty tired enjoy the rest of the shows." "I will, see ya tomorrow night" as Phil was walking away i thought about yelling out hey man, play Bof of Rain tomorrow, but decided against it. When they started playing it I leaned over to Mike and said, guess he got the message anway. That's how i know it oughta be Box instead Baby Blue in that spot.
The other thing I remmeber clearly from this night was, when they started Dark Star, I thought they were finsihing one I'd seen 'em start in the summer but never did the 2nd verse. No such luck, but it also means i've got two unfinished Dark Stars in my show history which in and of itself is pretty fuckin' awesome!
Y'all be good to each other!
