Grateful Dead

It was Comdex 1989 - the year the Intel 486 was the thing. I think it was the first year in Chicago. Walked into the hotel room and jumped on the phone and was able to order tickets for both nights for pick-up at Will Call. Magic!

During the '89 run - can't quite remember the exact night - went for a walk during set-break. I was feeling a little "light"-headed, and you know the whole place was packed! So packed, that I came around a corner right into a human traffic jam. People coming down multiple staircases, crowd surging in both directions - then suddenly a standstill, all the air leaving the place, florescent lights blazing brighter and brighter, and I'm lifted right off my feet by the human crush. As good heads always did, we quickly got ourselves out of that collective jam - but to my recollection - that's a crowd...

By now Katie is all grown up and has a job. She organized the rest of the kids to buy tickets for this show. My first show in years! It was awesome.
