Time moves in one direction, memory in another.....
30 days, no Pigpen, for shame!!!!
Dark Star x 3
Nice, three Dark Stars this year, all very different versions. Goes to show the improvisational power of the band. I like this third offering the best but they're all really cool. Thanks for the tunes Dave and Co. - you're very generous. We're grateful. Good luck and see you all next year!
Miss you when it's gone
It's been real folks, as always. If you have used archive (dot) org, please make a contribution. See you next year!
Thanks Folks!
The fastest 30 days of the year. See you all in November '24!
Shall we go, you and I while we can....?
When I saw we were going out on this monster Dark Star and looked at all the possibilities I was ready to spend the better part of the day searching. But I really lucked out and nailed it on the first try. Thanks for another great month of music Dave. I'm putting the Deadbase back on the bookshelf. Have a great year everyone. Be safe! See you back here on my birthday in 11 months. And remember: if you get confused, listen to the music play!
Important tours
I thought I'd jump right to that legendary tours, the sound is right but look like this one is not there or maybe its just a synching issue. I'll have to dive in after work and an important medical procedure for a loved one. Send some energy my way.
I Bid You Goodnight (until next year)
Thank you, Dave - and everyone who makes this yearly celebration happen! And my best to all the Deadheads who traded tapes with me way back when and helped foster my passion for this incredible band - and to those who I have yet to meet who continue to keep the fire burning.
I LOVE you Jerry!!!! I MISS…
I LOVE you Jerry!!!!
I MISS you!!!!
Thanks Dave!!!!
Fare Thee Well...
Mahalo to Dave and everyone here! Feel like I'm on tour again! This is truly a grateful gift every year. Take care, be safe, and be kind...

14 x 30 = 420 Days of Dead
First time I've gone 30 for 30! Thanks for all the tunes, Dave & Co.
This year
was different with the huge amount of music released, and some of the hints were definitely helpful compared to years passed. The multi song suites were a joy. Thanks to all! I wonder how many of you other players I live near or have met at shows over the years.
Thanks Again!
I really enjoy and appreciate this every-November Christmas gift. 30 Days Of Dead is an event I look forward to all year long every year. In fact, I have a reminder in my calendar every Halloween thru Stardate 41153.7 to remind me of the next day's Treat! So...thanks and Happy Holidays to all Deadheads everywhere!!!
always a hoot
Thanks dave and the staff at dead net for an awesome month of fun.
Thanks to all my tour mates who kept it interesting and intense.
Never had such a good time.
Till next year everyone be blessed with peace love and happiness
Q
a real good time
Another great November. Big thanks to Dave, the good folks at jerrybase as well as the Every Dark Star Blog, the Grateful Dead Guide and all the other amazing GD related stuff out there. November is always a great reminder that aside from 1965-1995 there's never been a better time in the history of the universe to be a deadhead.
Thank you for a real good time...
Thanks, Dave, for another fun November. Leaving us on a doozy!
Grateful for rabbit holes
Getting drawn into listening to the entire show of a previous year's 30 Days selection helped me out here a lot.
Until next year!
"This is the end, beautiful friend"
Thanks to all that provided the music and those that participated in the game. See ya'll next year, or on the Dave's Subscription threads.
Going Out With a BANG!
What a great November it's been! See you all next year.....
Dark Star persists
Another great and fun 30DoD, thanks to everyone involved! Wanted to note that today is the 50th anniversary of my first GD concert (Dick's Picks 14). Dark Star continues to evolve, notable recent versions I've heard were the "Dark Star on the Big River" from Fenway this past June, and one from Weir's band with the Willie tour in Mansfield MA this past September. It persists.
Thank you!
Thank you for a real good time with everyone this year. I enjoy reading everyone's comments and thank you all for the connection to our shared past. Being part of this family has been one of the most fun and monumental of my life. And many thanks to 30 Days of Dead for bringing us together for a month every year! This year has been the easiest, and I see that is true for many of us so it is not just that my ear has improved over the years!! Ah well.
Be kind and keep safe everyone! See you next year everybody - I'm already looking forward to it and cannot wait!
Tougher than I thought
Didn't listen enough before starting my search. Easy once I figured out which tour. This is a damn near perfect DS. Just the way I like them.
Cheers all

For what it's worth...If my understanding is correct, modern standard copyright protection for creative works, intellectual property, musical compositions, song recordings/songs, means that the author retains property rights for their entire life, plus 70 years after their death. Previous 30 DoD songs not written by the Grateful Dead: Don't Ease Me In, He Was A Friend Of Mine, Peggy-O, I Know You Rider, Samson and Delilah, Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad and Little Sadie, are considered traditional and thus available to share. New Minglewood Blues is an adaptation of a Noah Lewis song (Jug Stompers, 1928), and thus does not need to wait for 70 years after his death, which was 1961. Big Railroad Blues, another Noah Lewis song, is listed as arranged (in italics) by Grateful Dead. Stagger Lee is credited to lyrics by Robert Hunter and music by Jerry Garcia, but is based on a song titled Stagger Lee, StagoLee or Stack O'Lee. Deeper dive with comments by David Dodd or Eric McHenry on this song. Pig Pen sang tunes such As: Ain't It Crazy (The Rub) by Lightning Hopkins (1912-1982), Big Boss Man by Jimmy Reed (1925-1976), Smokestack Lightning by Chester Burnett aka Howlin' Wolf (1910-1976), It Hurts Me Too by Elmore James (1918-1963), Hard To Handle by Otis Redding (1941-1967), Good Lovin' by Artie Resnick (1937-) and Rudy Clark (1937-2020) and Turn On Your Lovelight by Deadric Malone aka Don Robey (1913-1975) and Joe Scott (1924-1979) which are not yet available based on it has not been 70 years since the credited writer(s) passed. The song Good Morning Little Schgool Girl by Johnny Lee "Sonnyboy" Williamson (1914-1948) would be available as he died more than 70 years ago. Songs written by Ron Pig Pen McKernan, with or without Robert Hunter, that would in theory be available include Aligator, Mr. Charlie, and Operator.
The Forces Tear Loose From The Axis
Farewell fellow Deadheads!!! Its been a wonderful November once again.
Not to be Debbie Downer, but I fear next November may be a darker time.
Fool
All my prayers go to our fellow countrymen to act right this year. I never have gone over acliff yet and I don’t think to start now.
If they are in vote them out
If they are new vote them in
It’s a 87% chance of an overall better quorum.
Pray as sadlyhopebe fleeting
Another stellar year
Pun intended with back-to-back Dark Stars. Thank you for another real fun time.
Star Bright
Incredible - three Dark Stars this year! This one was a surprise for me, especially given that it was sandwiched in this concert between two songs that I would never had associated with this most essential psychedelic Dead. Transitional period indeed!
November has gone by way too fast. Thanks to Dave and all of you for sharing once again this incredible time and music.
Peace.
Great Hints
I was a little nervous about this one but a couple of great hints let me get this one on the second try. Well done all.
Thanks
for the hours of music and for giving everyone a chance for the big fish. I was miserable with COVID yesterday so I missed it but got right every other day but 2 because of business. Easiest year ever by far. I even managed not to go off on a rant about box set fiascos. Maybe next year. Peace be with you and peace is always in.
Whereas.............
yesterday's Dark Star was somewhat foreboding and cavernous, I found today's version uplifting, close and beautiful.
Perfect sync-up to sail-out on. Shall we go, you and I?
Thanks Dave & Co. for all the goods. See y'all in 2024.
Tough to leave a comment
I had so much to share with you all- sorry
Venue issues
I was 0 for 3 on the “iffy” venues issues- gonna have to guess differently next November!
Thanks and peace and luv
You all stay safe and happy until we meet up again. And thanks for another great November, Dave…
Today's GEM
Definitely SURREAL.... The complete show is outstanding. Thanks Dave and all involved with 30 DoD it's been another GRATEFUL time. I wish all DEADHEADS who take the challenge each day the best in the future ahead of us. When reading all the comments there's times I feel as if I had been standing alongside y'all at this or that show. JUST DON'T NEVER NEVER KNOW, no no.
Stay HEALTHY!
Comes A Time
Wow, another 30 Days come and gone. How sweet it is to have shared it with you all! This truly is a special tribe that wanders back home here every November. Until we’re blessed to converge again further on up the road, peace and love and health to each of you!
And to the band, and Dave and everyone behind the scenes—THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! What a particularly stellar year this 30 DoD has been! And EVERY year you make my heart grow bigger! Cheers!
Finally, a show I attended. I believe in all the years I've been doing the 30 Days, this is only the second 30 Days show I attended (though I missed at least the first year of 30 Days, so I could be wrong.) I live in Michigan, which in the day wasn't a hotbed of Deadhead life, so I didn't really know about touring Deadheads and only got to shows when the band came to Michigan, which wasn't even every tour. Thus, I didn't see very many Grateful Dead shows in the 23 years I was going to shows. But I was at the Easttown show! My third Dead show.
Pretty generous selections this year, lots of days were less "songs" and more like "half sets". Too busy to play most days but enjoyed those magical times when I had the luxury of digging into setlists and trying to sync up the show audio with the download. You get that weirdly echoey quality and you know you've got it. Like having ears in two different parts of the arena. Thanks folks, 11 months to go...
30 Days of Dark Star
THAT would be cool
