Detroit, MI, Easttown Theatre
From Keith's fifth show as a member of the Grateful Dead, and without Pigpen, who was sitting out the October-November 1971 shows, the Dead delivered this beautiful "Dark Star" in Detroit, Keith's second journey into "Dark Star"

    Yes! A show I attended.

Finally, a show I attended. I believe in all the years I've been doing the 30 Days, this is only the second 30 Days show I attended (though I missed at least the first year of 30 Days, so I could be wrong.) I live in Michigan, which in the day wasn't a hotbed of Deadhead life, so I didn't really know about touring Deadheads and only got to shows when the band came to Michigan, which wasn't even every tour. Thus, I didn't see very many Grateful Dead shows in the 23 years I was going to shows. But I was at the Easttown show! My third Dead show.

    Fun year

Pretty generous selections this year, lots of days were less "songs" and more like "half sets". Too busy to play most days but enjoyed those magical times when I had the luxury of digging into setlists and trying to sync up the show audio with the download. You get that weirdly echoey quality and you know you've got it. Like having ears in two different parts of the arena. Thanks folks, 11 months to go...

thanks to this whole Dead family of ours, and this peaceful place we have here once a year.
thanks especially to all involved, Dave, Marye, the tech folks who make this possible and of course the band beyond description who gift us this gorgeous sound.
here's wishing us all peace. see you at the show !

this year is to trust my instincts and intelligence more. Also need to use more of available resources. Search a whole year for this one where the keyboard in question didn't even play on. I knew he was on the track but somehow brain farted. Then I click on "Dark Star Graph." Oh, what a revelation. Didn't even have to listen to find, but did anyway for surety.

Never heard this one before, it's outstanding. Those keys are a big clue as to the era.

thank you Grateful Dead for sharing this magic with us once again!
thank you David and the crew for making this happen night after night!
and thanks to all you Dead Heads who come back every year and add the hints that make this game so much fun!
the gift of music each November and the way that it reconnects us to band and the music that we love reinvigorates us for the year ahead...
Thirty Days truly is magic...

Thank you all for a great 30 days, enjoyed the journey! Thanks Dave and the family for a great serving of music all month. Hope I can find this last one in my interstellar explorations tonight.

I appreciate the community that comes together here all month, reading your experiences and thoughts inspired by the music. I love the suggestion of the OGs posting some general tips at the start of next season. Someone help us remember it is NOT Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, okay? :-D

Have a good year, take care of yourselves and each other. Peace out!

I believe your understanding is correct. And thank you for laying it out in such detailed perfection. I’ve copied it and you may find me posting it with due credit next year.

Nice hanging with you cats and mamas. 27 correct this year (including two venue issues), PR for me. Same time next year! Let there be songs to fill the air.

Many say that this year was "too easy", whatever! I'm an older Head that still works and is a full time caregiver. I don't have all day to search so I was really Grateful to be able to locate many within an hour. For me - this was the most fun I have ever had in the decade + of 30 Days Of The Dead. Thank You Dave - I really enjoyed the "picks". 27 for me this year, I typically get around 7 or so. Missed all the Dark Stars lol. Peace out and Be Kind

I'll never be good at tracking down a particular show, but I really enjoy reading the comments. The places on the internet where folks are friendly towards each other are few and far between. Looking forward to next November 1. Thank you all!

Love this month!!! Did not submit everyday, but this one I never would have gotten because my vintage DeadBase IX had this show but no setlist. Sometimes I delve deep, but not too deep.
Listening to a 7/77 show of JGB doing "Harder they come". I loved that stripped-down band of John, Ron, and Keith. Jer is skankin'!!!
