If the Tapers' Section or Grateful Dead Hour streams (or any other streams that may appear from time to time) aren't working for you, please post here. In some cases, your fellow Heads will come to your assistance. In others, the Rhino techs may have a fix for the problem. In others, we may have a can't-get-there-from-here issue, but really, we'll do our best. Thanks!

Only GD Hour streams pages 1-15 working p16 onwards do not work

First visit here. Wanted to hear some old GDH I listened to on WNEW back in 1989. Page 16 has a couple I'd like to hear again. I taped many of the shows in 1988-89.

Grateful Dead Hour streams play fine but only shows from the first 15 pages in the listing. There is a clear cutoff with the last GDH on page 15 playing and the previous GDH top of page 16 and all the rest to page 100 or so won't play at all although the jplayer does pop up. Thank you Marye for offering to help. Could be a Rhino tech glitch with this simple cutoff of older postings of GDH. My sense of this is that Dead.net intended all of the streams to work as Marye alludes to.

Must have been on my end.

Pop up blockers on Chrome may have been keeping things from playing. Everything fine on the old browser. Sorry for the technical ineptitude.

    Not completely

A little premature in my last comment. The "Listen Now" button on the home page is working but the "Listen Now" link on the Jam of the Week page which opens a separate player window is not working.

Seems to be working today. If you did something, thanks.

For close to a week now, Jam of the week won't play as well as others. If I click "Listen Now" button, the player displays but nothing plays. If I click "Jam of the Week" button and then "Listen Now" on the next page, a separate window pops up with the player but nothing plays. Have not had problems in the past. Sorry marye, my sarcasm knows no bounds, but your inference wasn't what I was trying to say. I should have said, my internet connection uses 250 mics, gets an unlimited bandwidth and doesn't need a computer.I do think the complaints about the streams of the TS shows revolve around (and around) exactly what you described but I can't say for anyone but myself. It's no big deal, to me. "I've had a hard night and I hate the f'ing Eagles..."

that wasn't directed at you so much as at trying to narrow this problem down, as Jonathan swears it should be stereo. I figure the better we can define the problem the likelier it is to get solved. That's all. Muddling along here...

OK - to clarify, its definitely not a case of only hearing one channel (i.e. only get a signal in one speaker/headphone). I am hearing a mono reduction of a stereo signal. If I put on my headphones I hear the music in the "centre". I can hear all the instruments (even though it's a little crowded) - the signal is not a stereo signal though. Completely, unmistakably, undeniably mono.

Definitely mono, two channels collapsed into one, same signal on both sides. Can it be an issue with the Quicktime player?

but this does seem to narrow the focus a bit, so I will pass this on right now.

Back in the day when stereo albums first became available, the stereo version cost $1.00 more than the same record in mono. I know this isn't relevant here, but it reminded me of another time's forgotten space...And we sometimes had to walk through 4 feet of snow...

My bad, it's a Flash Player, not Quicktime. I get other Flash stuff in stereo, so I don't think it's the Flash Player, but who knows.

I'm getting all the Taper's Section stuff in stereo now. Hurray. Now all we need is the previous six months' clips to be reloaded in stereo. Easier said than done... Thanks for pursuing this marye. I'm not listening to the Taper's Section stuff again for the first time in months!!

Ever since I went to Firefox 6.0, I've been unable to stream Grateful Dead Hour, although the flypaper stuff (jam of the week and taper's section) works fine. I've got the latest quicktime and windows media players, but it doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas? Steve Premo -- Santa Cruz, California

the chat site is totally not working, so im sorting the sock drawer today.

I can't get into the Chat. I am logged in, but when I select "Chat" under my avatar, it comes up with a page saying that I must be logged in. I click the icon where my avatar was, and I go back to the home page with my avatar. I think I'm considered logged in everywhere except chat.

Peace,

-Dave
