I will survive
My first show post Jerry illness sabatical. They open with Touch of Grey. I had goosebumps. There was so much emotion. Jerry telling everyone he was back and he was. The crowd going nuts. Everyone signing "we will get by." It was a moment. I'm almost misty.
Commencement...
THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST SHOW!! I had little GD exposure & hadn't heard them live before this night. That show changed my life. It was my first steps of an amazing journey and I listened to music differently from that day forward. I am still on that journey...I am so grateful for that free ticket...truly a miracle!!
Jerry was really on it that night and there was something about Quinn that sealed it for me. It was one of my favorite songs and they did something to it that just swept me away. I recall Box of Rain became one of my favorites that night as well...Touch of Grey & Friend of the Devil were also great ( I thought they did Friend because the meadowlands was home ice for the NJ Devils...how cool they were!). I may be biased but I genuinely think this show should be a Dick's Picks or at least released in its entirety. I would love a pristine copy of this one. Geez...21 years later and I am still amazed.
Rainbow in the Lot!
My second show, I went to it from college. I remember a rainbow in the parking lot which was incredible! There were no tickets to be found there. so we enjoyed all that the lot had to offer & listened to it stream over WNEW live! It was a magical day!
Bobby's Screw Up At The Beginning Of Bucket
Bobby couldn't just step away from the mic for a second until he remebered the 1st line, he had to announce it everyone. Then the band instead of saying "start over OK 1 2 3 4" they had to be wise ass's and give us a few minutes of noise. A classic Dead moment, and it was on the radio, so we all can have great copies of it. Check Out My Orignal Music at myspace.com/salaversano
touch of grey
The crowd sounded like the crowd for the beatles at shea stadium for the touch of grey opener. Happy to see Jerry back.
Messy but fun
Jerry happily fumbled through Bertha and Phil sang Box wit a Joisey accent...
Yeah the rainbow was like just before the show started
Yeah the rainbow was like just before the show started. We all applauded. It was awesome and they played box of rain. The Morning Dew was one of the best I ever heard.
my first show!
...at least I think it was this one and not the night before...
I was 15, my best friend's older sister took us.
Radio…someone still loves you…..
Yes a Queen lyric quote, but I remember listening to this live on the radio. Wished they had done it more, but when you hadn’t been to your first show, yet, until summer(!!!!!), dancing to live dead in your bedroom 20 miles for the venue, kind of was my first show, but not really!
