    7-LP with 14th Side Etching, 180-Gram Vinyl
2-piece telescope box, with insert featuring photos and liner notes
    Limited Edition of 5000
    Mastered by Jeffrey Norman
Produced for release by David Lemieux

Very nearly selected as the inaugural Dave's Picks, 7/31/74 would eventually become the second release in the series in 2012. The Hartford '74 show was the penultimate outdoor concert for the Grateful Dead's Wall Of Sound, which was on the tail end of its existence. DAVE'S PICKS VOL. 2 includes every note the Grateful Dead played that night plus Phil and Ned's Seastones interlude. Featuring a rare "Scarlet Begonias" show-opener, and ending with an encore of Uncle John's Band, Dave's Picks Vol. 2 features three full-length sets, a truly epic, monumental show from 1974, a year many Dead Heads consider the band's greatest. The show includes lengthy workouts on "China>Rider," "Weather Report Suite," "Eyes Of The World>China Doll," and a "Truckin'>Wharf Rat" sequence that includes several thematic jams as the band joins these two classics. The CD sold out immediately in 2012, and we're thrilled to be re-issuing this terrific show on vinyl. – David Lemieux

Housed in a 2-piece telescope box with an insert featuring photos and liners, this 7LP (with a 14th side etching) 180-gram vinyl set has been mastered for release by Jeffrey Norman and produced by David Lemieux. It's limited and numbered to 5,000 copies and due February 2nd, 2024.

I slip the actual records into polythene covers which slot into the cardboard covers they are housed in. Supposedly anti static, anti dust, anti scratch etc - they seem good. Mine have Spincare.co.uk on the cover.

I was wondering if there had been any issues with the quality of the condition of these records. I can remember with Daves 23-the Jan 1978 one, that there were quite a few mentioned both on here and on Discogs. Any problems I have had have been well dealt with on here - but I would rather not have problems to begin with !

    Re DiP 24 vinyl

If I'm not mistaken, that was one of the Brookvale vinyl releases, before Real Gone started doing them, which was before I started collecting Dead vinyl. I saw the prices on that original Brookvale series of DiPs and said I would not being paying those kinds of prices. So far, I've snagged DiP 36, 26, 19, 33, and 2 from Real Gone. Had to go elsewhere for DiP 1, because it sold out in literally an hour or less, and was charged about 30% more as a result, but that's better than twice or more. Furthermore, I'm somewhat glad DiP 24 goes for as much as it does, never been a huge fan of that show. I hope DaP 34 6/23/74 is the next 1974 vinyl, an RSD release would be awesome.

Alvar - you didn't go for Dicks Picks 24 then, 3/23/74? I didn't myself, and now it's unavailable. A cautionary tale. I ordered Dicks Picks 1 last week, which should arrive next week sometime. Then I'm pausing for a while before I get 7/13/74 - a dangerous game, but vinyl doesn't seem to sell out too quickly on deadnet.

Was tracking for delivery today, then got stuck in Ohio and moved to tomorrow. Just realized will only be my second '74 show on vinyl with 5-19-74. Also have the Playing from 5-21, but that's it.

Given that side 14 has no music but is etched instead and Vol 2 represents a "bonus" release, its a shame that none of the bonus disc's music is part of this set....could have at least filled the 14th side with something from the original Vol.2 Bonus disc.

Im grateful to soon have a Vol 2 without paying a fortune in the aftermarket, since i didnt start subscribing until Vol. 9. So this means i have finally added Vol 1 and Vol 2 to my collection.

Have all the Dave's Picks on cd but I am very happy to add DaP 2 to my vinyl collection which will join DaP 1 on the shelves. I waited too long on DaP 23 and it sold out before I had the funds available. Love listening to vinyl and don't mind changing sides as my seat is next to the tt. Rarely play the cd's which are ripped as soon as they arrive and I listen to the lossless files both at home and on the move. Grate time to be a deadhead if you've got the funds. Keeps me happy and sane.

Don't have DaP 1-4 on cd, so glad to get those on vinyl. Even if I won't listen much to 3 and 4 (I have mp3s of those, and have listened). Hey, Daysbetween DaP 23 vinyl is still for sale, or at least it was a few minutes ago. I wasn't a huge fan of that Pick, some great songs, but not quite the barn burner of legend to me. Huge Close Encounters fan, movie and music, and like the cover art, but the quality issues I've read and seen videos on made me wary. Happy with another '74 on vinyl. Hope DaP 34 6/23/74 gets vinyl treatment in next few years. Agreed on idea that instead of etching, include Bonus Disc material on last side, if only Weather Report Suite.

That's me hovering. Which is usually a sign that I pounce at some point. I've got the cd, but 1974 on vinyl is an attractive thought. I haven't got any Dave's Picks on vinyl yet, but this one does tempt me.

Thanks for the heads up on availability alvarhanso. Managed to get DaP 23 on vinyl at a discount on a Black Friday deal. Early xmas present to myself. 1978 is not a fave year but I have listened to the CD many times and am happy to add the vinyl to my collection. Running out of room to store all these boxes. Looking forward to spinning before the holidays.

Ordered it a few days ago. This was my second Grateful Dead show and I remember it being really good, although Ned and Phil kind of freaked a lot of people out. I have the CD and really enjoy it. Can’t wait for the vinyl.

I've just realised there's a whole side of "Seastones" on this album that wasn't on the original cd.

Was tracking for delivery today, then got stuck in Ohio and moved to tomorrow. Just realized will only be my second '74 show on vinyl with 5-19-74. Also have the Playing from 5-21, but that's it.
