The Band's Instruments, Sound Systems, and Recording Sessions from 1965 to 1995 - by Blair Jackson.
Tiger Guitar
I always had a little chuckle at a merry prank that occasionally flashed through my mind at shows. The prank would have been to "borrow" Jerry's Tiger guitar rather sneakily. Then, before it was noticed, sit on the back of a pick-up truck's tailgate playing it through a little amp in the lot. Of course, I would never have tried such a lark. I'm sure it wouldn't have been appreciated if u know what I mean! :)

Another Great Dead Book by Blair Jackson
While rather pricey it is a must read for anyone interested in the gear and sound of the band. I like that he features CDs of the different eras as he talks about the insturments so you can track the sounds and changes which I did. Not only those but also speaker systems and recording info. I learned a lot about the history of instrument manufacturers. Many wonderful photos I haven't seen before. A beautiful classy book. Pretty specialized but a fun ride and will be read again to fully digest the wealth of 30 years of Dead gear. Thank you Blair!
If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.
