I read that there had been a data breach on dead.net. Anybody know anything about that?

I have an idea for an art project and I am wondering where is the best place to ask for tape covers with hand written set lists and / or cool drawings that aren't being used. I would 100% pay for shipping.

    Rock on!

They still exist, but I don't think they're active. I think technology may have overtaken it all to some extent; it pretty much comes down to whether people still want to do things that way. It was fun to get those DVDs in the mail...

At this point, I don't think so. Many navigational issues are coming to light and being dealt with , and I will say this one is driving me nuts also! So thanks for speaking up.

I think that's a huge one, especially for someone like me coming over here from the Well. a nice nav button or two at the bottom of the current topic to either go back to the list or forward to the next topic with new replies would be huge.

Yer preachin' to the choir on this one, and I've also raised the issue that it would be swell to have posts numbered.

Who should comments regarding the Shows list go to? I already found a few errors and I've only looked at PA shows.

Yes, so have I (not to mention things like Dylan not getting mentioned in the Dead/Dylan shows, leaving the befuddled reader to figure it out from the setlist...). For now, hold that thought and I'll see where this stuff should go. I.e., I don't want to land a pile of this stuff on the wrong person's desk!

Yeah, and somewhere there's a Greek show sandwiched between two East Coast shows, too. I think not, alas.

Okay, here's the answer to that one: send show errata as Private Messages to Jonathan Lane (that's his name and his ID).

I set my location on the google map in my account but it doesn't show up on the big map of all the members. Also, why can't I post a new topic in the forums? Might As Well

Re the topics, we're trying to keep the number of them manageable till we figure out how this whole thing is working, but don't be shy about asking for the ones you want, as izzie says. Re the google map, did you type in your full street address? it seems to want that. If you did, must be something else and we'll investigate further...

Yeah, Google maps needs your street address and zip code, and might be a little slow on the uptake right now. (I just checked it for something else and it's a little slow for me at least.)

Okay cool, I was just wanting to add a band to the forum about other good bands to see (My Morning Jacket). I didn't realize that it needed by full address, I just have city and zip code. I'll just add my full address. Thanks for the help and the quick reply.

Hey, we know all about that map issue because until izzie figured it out the map was putting us off the ivory Coast! I'll go see if I can find a home for the Morning Jackets...

Yeah peoples. If you're getting placed off the Ivory Coast of Africa, the next time some one asks you where Zero Lat/Zero Long is... you'll know!

J.Chimmy, You may want take a moment and ask yourself if you really want your personal information listed publicly on a website.

Dire has a very valid point. I'm not sure how publicly visible your street address would be on your profile, but you truly might want to check it out. Indeed, that's why I'm still off the Ivory Coast when I'm really in Oakland.

I'm with Dire Wolf on this one . . . I can somewhat understand that the folks behind the scenes here might be interested in demographics of the inhabitants of this place . . . I can also see where it might be helpful to the inhabitants who hope to market what they do or even perhaps themselves . . . however, it is kind of creepy knowing that the general populace might be able to avail themselves of someones home address . . .

is there a way to NOT go back to the first page of a thread after making a post? in another thread that is now 2 pages long, after i posted something, it automatically took me back to the start of the thread rather than to my post (the end of the thread) peace.

CCJoe: is there a way to NOT go back to the first page of a thread after making a post? Not that I've been able to find you. I have learned, though, that if you want to Reply to a particular post, and use the Repy option, it puts that original post alone on your screen so you can see it, no matter where on the page you were when you found it. I've also learned that the All Recent Posts button there on Dead.Community gets you to a screen with, who knew, all the recent posts marked as . Will that help at least a little?

well, the next screen popped up on the top of the page... meaning I had to scroll down to see what I put. I wonder how that will work on a two page thread. I'll give it another try on a 2 page thread. I suppose it will just take some getting used to. I use a Mac most of the time, so I never got used to doing that right click thang to scroll down. (actually, my Mac had a really weird set up for the opening screen, but I think that is a local problem at home since the software and explorer version is a little old...) peace.

OK, I'm a slow learner. ( -; I tried it with the 2 page introduction thread, and it did, indeed, go back to the first page, from the top, all over again. though I do see what you mean about hitting reply. that would help with the cut and paste quote thing, but oh well, if I gotta scroll down, and then hit 'last page' I guess that is what I gotta do. then, another thing, after I did the 'test' in the Introduction thread, I tried to go back and delete it, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. so, (OK, I promise these will be my last questions for a while) is there a way to delete posts? other than editing it, and writing in deleted? because you can not re-post an empty field... is there a time limit on the edit feature? this I would think would be a good idea for the sake of continuity and NOT being able to re-write history. peace.

the mods (as we learned!) have the Delete key. We're planning to delete obvious duplicative posts and stuff like that. But we'll tell you first! (really, Joe. We'll tell you first.)

Is it possible to have a listing for shows we attended like the Dead for individual member shows and side projects like, Phil & Friends, Rat Dog, The Other Ones, The Dead, Mickey, Rhythm Devils, Go Ahead ect ect ect........ I like the feature for the Shows We attended and that we can post comments about them. It would be cool to do that for the aformentioned side projects. Thanks.

Please check the FAQ section in Before You Get Started in the Welcome Mat area for details. Short version, we're trying to get things working, and trying to do so with a manageable number of topics. We're also trying to build a system that works for people who come from a lot of different systems with a lot of different features. On some (DNC, for example) you can't create topics at all. On others (the Well, for example) you can. We already have some people complaining there are too many topics. We have others complaining because they can't start 'em. We don't know at this point what it will look like long term. Meanwhile, if you want a particular topic, send a Private Message to me or izzie, and we'll do our best to get it going. Thank you.

Hi, why is the time an hour off from SF time. Actually an hour west of me is someplace in the pacific between SF and Hawaii, i.e.,S F is 5:06 and Hawaii is 2:06 but the time posted when I posted my last post was 4:06 - it was 5:05 here in SF, which would put the website's time an hour west of me. hmmm...
