I was there when NRPS opened
I was there when NRPS opened with Jerry playing pedal steel. Boston Music Hall 4/7/71. What a long strange trip it's been. Missing the fat man!
I used to love the shows
I used to love the shows that had NRPS opening ,(w/Jerry on pedal steel). A couple of these Music Hall shows around this time were broadcast live on boston radio on WBCN 104.1 fm, which was one of the first of what was then called "underground radio" stations in the country. Debuted 3-15- 68, I believe.

PIgPen
I remember Pigpen stepping up to the mike to play the harmonica solo in "Ballin' that Jack" and just as he started to play, a blue electric spark jumped from the mike to his harp and knocked him back about three feet! He came back and started playing anyway. I miss Pigpen.
