My first show EVER
I was a 15-year-old kid from Berkeley High across the bay. Went with a friend who was a couple of years older, mainly to see Country Joe, who I adored. I didn't know much about the other bands, except for some 1978 TV commercial for a radio station that mentioned Boz Scaggs. I had no idea what I was in for. I also got freakishly high on weed, which both helped and hurt. We got separated in that huge crowd but somehow managed to find each other at the end of the night, to be shuttled back across the bridge by his dad, in rapt and stoned silence.
Even I could tell the Moscone center sucked as a venue. Still, it was an indoctrination I'll never forget.
