Hunter's Affects: A lit Mag for Deadheads

    Howdy folks! Late last year I had a crazy idea to create a literary mag for Deadheads, celebrating not just the Grateful Dead but the ginormous impact that the music continues to have on creatives to this day. I'm super proud to say that the first issue is now available in print (~):}

Only $5.99 + shipping for folks in the US. Prices & shipping vary in other countries. 70 pages, full color. Purchase: tinyurl.com/HA1print

You can also read it online and download a free digital copy at huntersaffects.wordpress.com

It would mean the world to me and the authors and artists within if you were to check it out. NFA!

I have a Wake of the Flood poster that was sold in a edition limited to 200 here on dead.net. I'd like to sell it. I'm into it for $65 with shipping. I'm asking $70 plus shipping. It is still in the original mailing tube. It was opened just to look at.
I also have a Garcia print from Bottleneck gallery that I'm also like to sell for $70. It too is in its original shipping tube and opened just to check the contents.
PM me if you're interested in one or both.
    Thank you.

Hey Now, family! My online shop, SHMOGGER'S DEN (www.shmoggersden.com) (www.etsy.com/shmoggersden) offers jigsaw puzzles of my old decorated tape covers.

I also have shirts, mugs and posters of my tape cover art from 20+ years ago. Furthur-more, I make the same sort of setlist art with computer graphic design. Shmogger's Den is the only place for tape cover puzzles in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!

Seeing as how we're all gonna be self-quarantining, what better way to pass the time than with GD-themed puzzles? (Oh yeah, and Phish too!)

On the other hand, puzzles are great for parties, with friends working together on different sections of the puzzle. People stroll by, place a few pieces, and stroll off. The whole group feels a sense of satisfaction when it's done. Will the group finish it before the party favors run out?

Any Shmogger’s Den Puzzle will spark up your living room, and they make UNIQUE GIFTS for your jamband friends or relatives!

Hey now! So I have been a bad boy and in hindsight doing a crowdfunder on Indiegogo for The PowerHitter was against the rules. I hope this does not go down on my permanent record. Been kicked off the block. So I am doing it alone again naturally... If you want one come see me next week at the NYE shows or drop by www.thepowerhitter.com

How a Dead show in 1986 changed my life forever

I remember getting on the bus Irvine April 12th 1986. A college buddy affectionately named Putz talked me into driving from ASU to Irvine Meadows. ROAD TRIP! Hell in a Bucket opened the set and my mind and I have been enjoying the ride ever since. That was the day I also discovered the most fun way to smoke a joint on Shakedown St. before the show!

    It transformed my life forever.

You see, not only did I finally "get" the Grateful Dead- I fell in love with a smoke device I learned was called The PowerHitter.

If you already know about it, you are going to be stoked because I'm bringing them back! I'll have some in SFO for NYE if you want to meet up.

If you have never heard of it, allow me to turn you on to it.

It looks like a small water bottle. You put a lit joint into the cap, secure it inside the bottle, cover the carb/hole, and just grip it and rip it. It shoots a steady stream of smoke out of it's special nozzle. Instant shotgun-power-hits. It was love at first sight as I love to smoke joints.

Problem was close to 10 years ago right before I went to see The Dead, The Doobies, and The Allman Brothers at The Gorge in George, I lost my PowerHitter in a freak beach accident when my Dad to me on a cruise to St. Maarten. Maho beach. Google it.

Anyhow...I searched everywhere for a replacement and couldn't find them. The original company stopped making them years ago and the knock offs I did find were terrible.

FINALLY I decided to take matters into my own hands and re-create them and my paint masterpiece.

Like the timeless music of The Grateful Dead, The PowerHitter is that rare "thing" that brings people together because it's so much fun to use and share with friends. I made a whole bunch and they sold out. I had to order more and sold out again. So now I need to raise some more money to order more and get new tools done. I have a container of them coming in by end of month and need to sell them as quick as I can to get more before Chinese New Years kicks in or we are Power-hit-less.

Would you like to try one? Holler at me and see you NYE.

Click https://igg.me/at/powerhitterco to find out about my crowdfunding project - and please support us any way you can. And, please share with your friends. See you on down the road.

hand made 13 Pointed Bolt wall hanging

I have a piece that I made recently which is done with wood, acrylic, and epoxy, using the Lichtenberg technique. If you aren't familiar with it, it is a method of electrocuting wood with high voltage. In this case, I used a microwave transformer, which is about 2,500 volts and 400 milliamps. I also used a neon sign transformer which is 15000 volts, but only 35 milliamps. The amps are really the dangerous part.

Unlike burning into wood with an electric wood burner, this is more like if you can picture attaching 2 jumper cables and then turning it on. so you can't really control it other than turning it off and on and minor things like using magnets or different levels of solution (there are many varieties you can make, which are things like borax or baking soda mixed with water to create an electrolyte solution that help aid they electricity travel across the top of the normally non-conductive wood). I used a piece of 2“ thick pine, made it into a circle then carved out the 13 pointed star in the middle by hand.
After that I Lichtenberged it, creating the fractal patterns (some say they look like electricity, or trees, or blood vessels, or river deltas from above, or lightning, etc etc). I then clean them out, as charcoal is produced, and then sand it
After that I painted the red and the blue sections lightly with acrylic as if it were a stain. I then make a barrier or dam around the outside of it and poor epoxy into the center, three different times (about 1/2 inch or so each time) over the course of a few days has it needs to dry and cure each time. I also had in Rare Earth Minerals which are basically powdered metallic pigments. So each time I did the poor in the lightning bolt I used a Pearl White, and two different types of red on the red side and two different types of blue on the blue side all while by hand swirling them into little spirals throughout before the epoxy has time to dry creating depth and patterns. I also put some iridescent pigment inside the bolt itself to react to certain lighting.
The last step is a final pour of epoxy over the entire thing all while keeping it level and letting it's just barely drip over the sides too in case it and make it smooth.
The final step is to sand it and polish it. All in all it took about three weeks. Hopefully you will be able to see it and if you are anyone you know would be interested or likes it or has ideas made like commissioned I'd be happy to help!

Greetings Fellow Dead Heads! Up for sale here is an album called 'Vintage Dead'. Vintage Dead is a live album by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, California in late 1966, and released in October 1970. Vintage Dead was produced without the approval or cooperation of the Grateful Dead.[1] However, it is a legal recording, not a bootleg. It was released on the Sunflower Records label, a subsidiary of MGM Records, and reached number 127 on the Billboard 200. Produced as a vinyl LP and long out of print, it has not been released as a Compact Disc. Vintage Dead was followed by another Sunflower Records album recorded at the Avalon in 1966, Historic Dead. This album has sat amongst a collection of many other fine albums for years. It is in near perfect condition, and in all the time I've owned it, it's been played less than five times. Me and the wife have just finished moving into a new home and both of our stuff combined has left us with very little room so it's time to downsize my collection and make some cash. Serious offers only, please!

Hi Folks.. This is a extremely rare find. Grateful Dead Jerry Garcia Area Rug "Emerging Elephants" - Pacific Blue 63" x 90" The estate of Jerry Garcia singed an agreement with Orian Rug manufacturer in late 2004 to produce rugs inspired by the artwork of Jerry. I believe they were produced in limited quantities for about 1 year. These rugs are nowhere to be found. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grateful-Dead-Jerry-Garcia-Area-Rug-/1210161902…

We (myself and spouse) have the pleasure of representing a very popular artist in Europe by the name of Chirag Bangdel. Chirag has sold out three straight shows in Amsterdam with his series called "Tattva". He has also exhibited in Germany and Belgium as well as several other European locales. His show in Lahore is due to open soon and he has one scheduled later in the year in Dubai, We are now looking for galleries in in NYC and Stowe, Vermont to receive his pieces for exhibition as well as a gallery in Ottawa and Mexico City. His work is contemporary and very exciting and is not astronomically priced, as will be the case when his North American shows conclude and his positive reviews precede him. From his biographical snapshot: Chirag Bangdel is an artist, writer and poet from Nepal. He exhibits regularly in his country and abroad. Chirag has always shown his loved for figurative paintings and has created a large volume of works in the genre. His eighth solo exhibition of paintings in 2006 was organized and hosted by The World Bank, Kathmandu, to mark Women’s Day. In 2012, The World Bank, Kathmandu organized and hosted another exhibition in it’s Public Information Office premises. Fifty-three of his paintings have been featured in United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 2009 calendar, selling 2000 copies. Chirag is also loved for his other series of mixed media and collage artworks which he calls “Tattva”. His series of “Tattva” has been exhibited in the Netherlands, where he had three complete sell out shows, in Germany and other countries in Europe. Chirag is also appreciated for his on going series of installation art which he calls “ Experience Red” where he tries to show the futility of violence. Also a writer and poet, he has authored five books, the last one being “Mist Around The Stupa”, a book of short stories and haiku poetry, published by Chautara Publications, the Netherlands. Chirag Bangdel is also a radio presenter and producer. From his Blog, Spring 2012: "I've been painting in the brightest of colors. Red, blue and mauve. This time spring has hit me hard. I have been dazzled. Been painting like insane. Used up all my stock of canvass. Must have visited over eight times to the art store to get paint. My paintings are thick in Pasto. All juicy. Nothing overburdened with false intellect. Pure colors and pure joy. I now know why the impressionists were mad with happiness." If you are a patron of contemporary art and you know an art gallery looking to identify rising stars from around the world that might be interested in inviting Chriag Bangdel on a standard gallery contract, please reply to me by PM for further details. We will try to post examples of his work in the coming days. We are currently discussing placement with a gallery in Stowe, Vermont. Thank you and please tell others who might have an interest. This artist is going from poor and starving to famous and rich right before our eyes!

Hi Friends, In 2008 while walking to work, Jack Straw came on the iPod and for some reason on this occasion, it struck me like a bolt of lighting. I knew I had to write the rest of the story. I became fascinated by the circumstances of the song. Well.....Three years and two kids later.....I began in 2011, what became a full year of research. On January 1st of 2012, I started writing and had the first draft in June. About a million edits later, I self published Jack Straw this past weekend. It's been an amazing journey and I'm very proud of the book. Community members can use Coupon code: HF85E on Smashwords to download for $1.99. Thank you and I hope you enjoy! Thank you for the kind words, Anna! I'm continuing to blog about the book here: http://jackstrawbook.tumblr.com/ I'll be updating the blog often to share my experience writing the book but to also share the fascinating American history I discovered in researching the South West of the late 1800's and early 1900's. I hope to convey the rich tapestry of that particular American experience and one that we all find in the music of the Grateful Dead.

I have a diamond ring that was a gift for my spouse but the size was a "larger" 6 than a "smaller" (5.5) 6 so it doesn't fit her and it wasn't her style anyway. The ring can be re-sized. This is a gorgeous ring, dripping with diamonds but tasteful. As mentioned, it is a size 6. It has a total carat weight of around 1.70 mounted in 14 carat yellow gold. The larger, central diamond is about .75 carats surrounded by 23 smaller diamonds that equal about .95 carats. (All weights are approximate) This is a princess cut diamond engagement ring and all 24 diamonds sparkle brilliantly If you wish to have the ring appraised I would be happy to ship it to a legitimate retail diamond shop for their weight and estimate of value. From there we can haggle over the final price. Please reply by PM if you are interested and we can talk on the phone. Serious buyers only. No dealers please. Selling price is $3k but as I said we can haggle after an official appraisal. (Limited provenance is available)

For Sale: The Dead w/Warren Haynes 2004 Tour "Wave That Flag" Autographed Poster http://www.ebay.com/itm/161131476953?_trksid=m570.p2050601.l4766&_trkpa… This poster was given to me after the show from Warren Haynes (started with David Allen Coe, Gov't Mule, Allman Brothers Band, Warren Haynes Band and sitting in with The Dead, Dave Matthews Band, and just every band who opens for him). He is an old family friend and has OK'd me selling this to help out with bills (medical for me and my mother, plus the well on my land had to fixed and both my fridge and stand up freezer are dying.). This poster is signed by everyone who was in "The Dead" during that summer 2004 tour "Wave that Flag" that Warren Haynes sat in with them on which was: Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Jimmy Herring, Jeff Chimenti, Bill Kreutzmann and Warren Haynes. The poster has stayed in pristine condition as I have kept in a clear plastic case that was sealable, to hang in my house. To my knowledge and a google search everywhere, I have not seen a poster like this online, so this looks to be one of a kind. I am selling it because I've never been a "Deadhead" or followed the Grateful Dead that much. But I have always respected the music they wrote and performed for so long for such a great fan base. The added photos are my way of COA, as they are just a few of the passes, pictures, band tour books and such to prove that the product is real. I have known Warren Haynes since my dad got him in with David Allen Coe back in the late '70's and he's been family since. I've basically been lucky enough to kind of live the live like the kid from "Almost Famous". I use Paypal only. I expect payment within 24 hours of purchase. I will deliver the item with delivery confirmation, signature delivery and insurance. As soon as I receive and confirm payment, expect your item to ship with 24-48 hours via USPS (except,of course, weekends, when your order will be shipped first thing Monday. Please do not place a bid unless you are a serious buyer. Any questions, feel free to contact right away through eBay's messaging center. And yes I have a few more items I am looking to sell, including the X-Mas Jam show poster (which is a limited edition), autographed band day to day tour books and signed passes and laminates. I have posted this as a version of a COA. Since I've been growing up, having passes to the shows or tourbooks for the band and friends and so on. If interested in any other items, contact me here and I will post what I am willing to part with (a lot I will never sell if at all possible). Have a nice day. I will be putting my GD bicycle on Ebay very soon, but thought I'd let yall know it's up for grabs. There are 2 on Ebay now asking price of $1799-$2000.00. I won't be asking that much. Mine doesn't have the original tires, but so what? (why we replaced them, I honestly don't remember) I rode it 20 miles max. It's been in the box & if anyone is interested please let me know. It's the 15" size, in perfect condition

I have a Sony DTC-ES60 DAT Machine purchased new for a pretty penny, close to a grand paid back in '96. Carefully packed and stored. I have it listed on eBay with the original manual and remote. One owner, used sparingly. It has been personally tested and it works great! I also have a box of DAT tapes to throw in as well. Check it out if you are interested. I also have a Tascam CD-RW5000 Professional cd recorder and a Sony D-8 Digital recorder for $40 listed in my other items!

cool site, I'd never heard of eliquid, but guess it's a growing market with the advent of vapor cigarettes...nice tapestries (I have a couple of the dancing bear styles, but really like your tree of life)...incidentally, those are some pretty high-tech lookin' pipes!/kate

But they're having a poster show at Found on Piedmont (http://www.foundonpiedmont.com/) in Oakland, and I was startled to see the 3/14/71 Field House poster. Fairly simple B&W art based on the Jerry image on Workingman's. Don't know what they're asking, but based on the prices of other posters in the show I don't think it's likely to be ridiculous (though I have to say it gave me a pang to see the Dinosaurs/Godzilla/Kabuki poster, which I once had, for 100 bucks). Maybe more interesting, they also have the biggest bunch of signed Gene Anthony photos I've ever seen in one place.
