While "Best Shows by Other Bands" might not be the ideal fit, it could still be an option to spread the word, especially if the forum allows discussions about upcoming events.

Joined:a little late to post this, but still...I saw Circles Around the Sun in Austin a couple of years ago. What a show! These guys took the CATS 1st album, and maybe another one or two, and stretched them masterfully into a 2 hour+ show. Single set. No breaks.
I really did not know what to expect, but they more than fulfilled expectations.
I describe them as a band with crazy improvisational skills, but with the discipline of Steely Dan. Outstanding.
disclosure: this was prior to Neal Casal's untimely demise... RIP. I hear they're still touring, and I'd bet they're just as exciting.

Cast of Clowns
these guys just came across my radar this morning, and while we'll probably eventually do something a bit more formal, I'm posting here for now because they've got gigs coming up next week!

Believe it and Not
Cast of Clowns set up the big top on holy grounds, where they juggle songs, work live with wild jams, and perform high in the air. A converging of talents immersed in reverent irreverence, the Cast of Clowns fun machine consists of psychedelic tricksters who helped create the jamband world as well as emerging voices of what’s to come.
Formed around new original material of short story/song writer, Craig Wright, (Redemption Center), Greg Anton, (Zero), and Robert Hunter, (Grateful Dead), the Cast features Jeff Pevar, (guitarist for Crosby Stills and Nash, Phil and Friends, Jazz is Dead and Ray Charles), as well as Melvin Seals, (famed organist of The Jerry Garcia Band).
Good friends hang out in clown alley as well. Grateful Dead’s Bill Kreutzmann played the entire show at the Clowns’ last performance at Oregon Country Fair. The Clowns keeps new and original material center ring. Surprises thrill and delight. Edges are pushed then blurred. Mysteries are celebrated. Then the warmth of a gentle, or not-so-gentle, ballad begins to billow the circus tent.

Reptiles Reunion Sept. 4
just a heads up if you're in the Bay Area--on September 4, David Gans's old band the Reptiles will reunite to honor the memory of founding member Al Feldstein, who passed on a couple months back. It's at the Starry Plough in Berkeley (as the name suggests, a neighborhood pub awash in Irish revolutionary slogans...) at 9 p.m. Venue is tiny, band is good, I'm looking forward to seeing some old pals. Music is Dead and other covers as well as originals that are darn good. Hope to see some of you there!
