1ST SHOW
I was the only one of my tribe that got a ticket to this show, though about ten of us drove over from Alabama. A new world was opened up for me this night. I remember almost every note they played since I had never heard music played that way before. I remember how strangely people were dancing, even when the music seemed to come to a complete stop they kept on dancing. I remember some lady with a crown of glowsticks on her head. I followed her with my eyes as she walked around and around the omni that night. Everytime I got a little lost in the music I would bring myself back by finding the lady with the glowstick crown. Man that was a great night. Looking back it was pretty good setlist too, not bad for a first show.

Howdy,
I went to this show with a group of people over spring break during my senior year in college. The shows were good, it sounded like the GD actually rehearsed, the mail order tickets had "spring training" on them.
The highlight was actually the Birdsong>Promised land of which I remember distinctly Phil rocking his bass neck back and forth during Promised to fuse out more accent of classic rock and roll.

got miracled my first show
I had gone up with friends for the weekend from Auburn U, but didn't have a ticket -- just there for the lot/camping scene. My friends had tickets for the following night, but not me. So, I'm hanging out around the side of the coliseum with my girlfriend, just talking, the show was just beginning, and this guy who works backstage swoops down out of nowhere and offers me a free pass. He only had one, though, and I felt bad about leaving my friend, but she insisted I go, since she had a ticket for the following night and had already seen them. So, I only had an instant to decide, because he was already running towards the back door. And I hug my friend, and am like, OH YEAH!
Everything is bustling inside with everybody running towards their seats cause the first song is starting. I thank the guy who let me in and we both run in either direction. You can just feel the energy! Pumped!! So, it was like God was leading me and I ran straight up a flight of stairs, and bam, I hit the spinners. Actually, they hit me, if you know what I mean, as I instinctively hoped they would.
And then off in LaLa land for the next few hours. When the lights came up in the arena, I was dumbfounded, and I remember just looking around, asking incredulously, "It's not over is it? It can't be!" Everyone just grinned at me and winked at each other. I followed the crowd out the front doors in one big wave, wondering where I was going to sleep that night (this was before cell-phones) as I knew there was no way I'd find my friends in this throng, but there they were, swooping into the wave of people, and finding me. Once again, I was pleasantly flabbergasted. That night we drove up the mountain to camp, listening to bootleg Dead all the way, of course.
I made out with some curly headed stranger from Long Island whom I'd been flirting with around a campfire. He was a few years older, wore sleek glasses, had a nice body, and a thick accent, and told me he was "travelling," which I thought was cool. We made out by a tree and a picnic table in the wee hours and then I went back to my tent and slept so I could enjoy what the next night had to bring.
I vaguely remember getting in the second night, too, but it wasn't nearly as magical as the first time, especially since I had to walk around the lot before hand telling everyone, "I needed a miracle," now that I knew what that meant. And since I went with my friends, I couldn't roam as much as I naturally felt like. Still...
