Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from three distinct periods in Grateful Dead history, featuring three different keyboard players.
Our first selection this week is from 6/4/78 at UCSB Stadium in Santa Barbara, CA where we have the start of the second set: Samson And Delilah ; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet> Eyes Of The World, featuring Keith on keyboards.
Next, from the tail end of Brent’s decade+ with the Grateful Dead, we have the end of the show from the first night of a great three night run of shows at Cal Expo in Sacramento, CA, on 6/8/90: Space > The Wheel > I Need A Miracle > Black Peter > Sugar Magnolia, US Blues.
Lastly this week we have the entire first set from 6/11/92 in Albany, NY, where we have Bertha ; New Minglewood Blues ; Row Jimmy ; Queen Jane Approximately ; Dire Wolf ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Loose Lucy ; The Music Never Stopped. This was Vince’s entire tour with the Grateful Dead, where he was the only keyboard player (Bruce had joined for all or parts of every tour since Vince joined the band in September 1990).
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
