    I remember
I remember Brent kicking ass on Bertha!! Him anf Jerry tradeing licks back and forth. Lots of smiles from the Band and the crowd. These midwest shows were always so roomy. Not crowded like east coast shows, the band seemed very laid back. Quin- blew me away!! It was prefect ended for a perfect show!!!

This was my very first show. I had just gotten my licence (I'm 38), and this was the first road trip my parents let me go on. There were a lot of old hippies and bikers there, and the parking lot scene was HUGE. There was a light rain, and I remember streams of rain spinning off the skirts of spinning girls. You can guess my frame of mind. The parking lot scene was so big that people in the middle felt comfortable enough to strip down, and Riverbend said "bye-bye". I couldn't freakin' believe the drums. I was hooked. I never got a tape of that show, so if anyone could hook me up, that would be sweet. Blow out! I literally danced a hole in my shoe during Miracle. Smokestack was right to me! Bobby was like three feet away as I was coming back to myself doing what seemed to be Tai Chi to his sustained guitar colors planes that I was pushing as he kept sustaining them; a beautiful give and take. Mind Blowing! However, during Bertha I thought the Band wanted me to leave and never come back. I think I felt guilty for not tossing back a little ball of lightning that came flying over the crowd to me. I played with it like a Globetrotter and then sneaked it into my back pocket. Ha! "We're all confused" could been my motto at this show.

The way I remember it...Before "Ship of Fools" the band was kinda stalling and looking up the river and talking to each other. I wondered what was going on. Then, as they got into the song, a POLICE BOAT (with lights on top and some ensignia on the side or something) came cruising by. I laughed my ass off! (I listened to the tape later and didn't notice any "stalling" before the song, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) Anyhow, GREAT show and the first show of my first "tour" (well, 5 shows in a row anyway). "Everybody's gonna wanna dose!" and I was!

Gave up on the wife and took a bud from work. His first show. During Miracle, I ascended to a higher level. Don't know why to this day. Ingested enhancements were not involved. In the late 70's I discovered I couldn't be lit and make sense of the Dead. As soon as Stella started, I was back to normal.

Amazing place to see a gig!My friends that I toured w/ didn't believe me that I'd seen paddle wheel boats go behind the stage on the Ohio river the year before. The band started into Ship Of Fools & here a boat came again! Very cool...they thought I'd created the prana myself(I think it was the Doonesbury blotter):D Bobby was really on this night! Let it grow (same spot as last year)Smokestack Lightning & Good Lovin!

My hometown, I was a KID. This was the first time I had seen a white person with dreads, men in skirts, and the lawn was a sea of tie-die. It definitely changed my life. As soon as I heard "the women are smarter" I was hooked.

This was a killer show. All the better as it was one of the few with no Dylan to mess up the formula this tour. Recommend a listen over at Archive. There are no excellent sources, but good enough. Women was definitely kickin' . The drums & space picked up on the water droplets on the river behind the stage in a rather amazing fashion. It rained pretty much the whole show, but I don't recall getting the slightest bit wet on the lawn. Go figure. As mentioned, the parking lot scene was big and fun. Yeah, I know - bad, bad, bad, but man was it fun. I hope your eye is better Dan! One of my favorite flashes from the lot was a head with a sewed on patch that read 'Another Picky Deadhead'. You damn right. I also recall an amusement park attached to the venue. Could life get any better? So Far no.

will never forget the riverboat coming around the bend on Ship of Fools. I wonder did the band know the boat's schedule? And what did they think when the crowd went nuts during a pretty run-of-the-mill part of the set? And even though it's not the Mississippi that runs through Cincy, Ohio is still a pretty "Big River"
