Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1973, 1979, and 1980, three mighty fine years in Dead history.
Our first selection this week is from the Dead’s only show in the west Texas town of El Paso, on 11/23/73, where we have this fine batch of 1973 Dead: Jack Straw ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; Big River ; Row Jimmy ; Weather Report Suite Prelude > Weather Report Suite Part 1 > Let It Grow.
Next up is music from the start of the final leg of the Dead’s Fall Tour of 1979, on 11/29/79 in Cleveland, where we have this great second set opening sequence of Shakedown Street > Samson And Delilah ; High Time ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World.
Lastly this week is music from the opening night of a short four show tour of Florida and Atlanta, with music from 11/26/80 in Pembroke Pines, FL, the first show after the five+ weeks of three set shows at the Warfield and Radio City (and two New Orleans shows in the middle). From the start of the second set we have Cold Rain And Snow ; Samson And Delilah ; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider > Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World.
