Week of March 2-8, 2020
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from three decades featuring three different keyboard players: 1970s (Keith), 1980s (Brent), and 1990s (Vince).
Our first selection this week is from Keith’s third show with the Dead, from 10/22/71 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, where we have this batch classic 1971 Dead featuring Bertha, Me and My Uncle, Tennessee Jed, Jack Straw, Loser, Playing In The Band, Sugaree. Six of these songs debuted in 1971, a nice batch of new tunes.
Next is the entire first set from the Centrum in Worcester, MA, on 10/21/83, where we have The Music Never Stopped; Loser ; C C Rider ; Cumberland Blues ; Cassidy ; Ramble On Rose ; My Brother Esau; Big Railroad Blues > The Promised Land.
Lastly this week is another first set, from the Dead final show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 10/19/94, where we have Feel Like A Stranger > Bertha ; Spoonful ; Jack-A-Roe ; El Paso ; If The Shoe Fits ; Bird Song.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
