Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll check out Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1978, and 1989.
Our first stop this week is on 2/11/70 at the Fillmore East, opening night of a three night run, featuring a classic jam with special guests: Dark Star>Lovelight.
Next is first set music from 2/1/78 in Chicago, closing night of the Dead’s first three night run at the Uptown Theatre: Jack Straw ; Friend Of The Devil; Mama Tried > Me And My Uncle; Ramble On Rose; Cassidy ; Sunrise; Sugaree.
Lastly this week is the end of the show from 2/7/89, the final show the Dead played at the Kaiser in Oakland, CA, where we have The Wheel> Throwing Stones>Foolish Heart> Good Lovin', Knockin' On Heaven’s Door including a unique placement for Foolish Heart.
