The band says Happy New Year with an announcement of almost twenty shows in April and May. More details to come!
Wouldn't 2010 be their 45 year anniversary?? Hmmmm its all falling into place nicely, very nicely :-) Dang it just hit me - 45 years ... unbelievable isn't it?? "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"
Announce a fall tour:):):) That would be the perfect end to a perfect year:):):)Peace- Moye
The Dead to tour in the spring...of 2010!!! Yay!!! It's official! The Dead is gonna tour in the Spring!! Gotta be 2010, right? JUST GOTTA BE! (here's wishful thinking anyway...)
Thinking about this spring, help pass a long and cold winter. And finding this site was a bonus. Peace Tina
i would rather see a summer tour so we can have outdoor shows (better for the kids)....hanging on the lawn twirling under the stars...i am so bummend i can't make rothbury well at leats we can do gathering of the vibes... peace and hugs to all
robert hunter used to be in a band called dinosaurs anyone wan to help start up a dinosaurs vine
I sure did spend a lot of time following that band around. Hunter was only with them for about a year, '84-'85, but it was pretty great.
Diiiiiiinoooooooooooo!! (Fred Flintstone voice) dinosaurs: check out this bad boy: http://www.archive.org/details/dinosaurs1982-08-13.aud.flac16 they even had Hart on cowbell. that is what we need, MORE cowbell.
Haaa thats a riot! My buddy has a T-shirt that says "What We Need is More Cowbell"... "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"
Wow, so 2010 will be 45 yrs! Can't wait for the next tour. I'm glad that some things never change.
on PBS right now!
Babe, we could use a little more cowbell. http://www.funnyhub.com/videos/pages/snl-more-cowbell.html "When it comes to humility, I'm the greatest!" - Bullwinkle Moose
Thats a total mind trip! Great Idea: They should make some collectible 45's(vinyl) for the anniversary.....Get it? 45's?....45 years?....do ya get it? huh?.....never mind,go back to sleep,we're almost there.
I know alot of heads are into Hot Tuna...But I dont know ANYTHING about them, But they're playing right up the street from me for like 25 bucks in July....Are they worth checkin out? Is it Deadish type jam stuff or what?
to answer your 2 questions: yes and yes. it is a Tunafish kind of jam thing... this audio is 7/24/07
I agree. They are definitely worth checking out. Especially for $25... "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"
I haven't seen Hot Tuna for 10 yrs or so, but I caught Jorma Kaukonen a couple of times last year doing his acoustic country blues thing. Very tasty, another old guy who doesn't appear to have lost a step.
Don't miss them. Jamming some, yes. But much of it will be awesome acoustic or electric blues. Hot Tuna is sometimes electric, sometimes acoustic and sometimes both in the same show. Water Song one of my favorites, have never tired of it. Jorma and Jack have been playing together now for over 50 years, since they were teenagers in the D.C. area in the 50's. IMHO the connection they have between themselves in guitar bass interaction is only matched by The Grateful Dead, the original ABB and current ABB. If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. William Blake
Gratefultwinz, You should definetly check out Hot Tuna. Different from the Dead but much the same in some ways. They are very blues oriented. Go see them and let us know what you think!
Did you see hot tuna with the other ones back in what 98 or so? They were awesome! "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"
what they all said. You should definitely go. Those guys are awesome and never boring.
DEFINATELY GO DUDE!!!!! Hot Tuna and Rusted root opened for the other ones on the further festival in 98....hey JAM man:):):) You gotta check it out.Peace- Moye
Hot Tuna was the Airplane's engine. Fly Jefferson Airplane and get there.
my other favourite psychedelic rock combo. Not a disappointment on those early albums. Hyper-space troopers. My fav clip is Saturday Afternoon at Woodstock - really captures the moment and never ceases to be powerful. "It's a time for growing, And a time for knowing love…" Moye: So true, Hot Tuna were super on that '98 Further Fest. Saw them in Toronto on Arlo's Birthday. Definitely a great band, not to be missed.
I live in Buffalo NY. Went to the Gorge. Cried after the show. Still asking myself what just happened! They sounded great! I saw people from 18 years ago in wheal chairs. I'm still processing the whole thing. Lets hope for another tour!!!!!!!!!
Goin to DSO sat night in Hampton Beach...Live Dead(sort of) for 25 bucks! I'll take it!!!! They still have Healy running sound? Anyone going? Beautiful week-end weather....2 shows(fri-sat)....Cold beer and Dancin' to Dead Tunes!!! Who dont like that?? GarciaThere!!!!!!

Going to the Fri show, can't do the Sat one this time.So I figure I gotta party & dance extra on Fri to make up the differdance! Hope it's HIGH ENERGY, cause I'm already stoked and I still got 3 daze to go! This will suffice just fine though, and then ROTHBURY BABY....Now for that I am all giddy with anticipation! Fri DSO show is gonna help prime the pump, not that I think I can handle much more priming! GratefulTwinz, enjoy Saturday's show!
most DEFINITELY worth $25......caught them in seattle (yech) a few years ago in a joint called the firehouse or the engine house or sumpin' like that.the music was awesome but the venue was'nt. they charged us $25 for a one topping medium pizza. it was an ok pie but certainly not worth 25 bones.....so we ...uh......"liberated" the pan. i still have it and baked biscuits on it not 2 days ago.
Hey G we will be there...saturday is our anniversary..i always catch them when i can...i am surprised you didn't see them at lowell auditorium...
Pie-Pan Pilcher!!!!! heeheehee
Noon-Actually I did catch them at LMA just not last time but the time before and they did an "original" set and it was just "ok" and then they played again a year later(and I couldnt go!) and it was one of "Those" shows....I liked every song on the list (mostly ROCKERS) (including Cassidy!) and the reviews said it was Kick-Ass!!! oh well....Anyway,Were not going this time either....Turns out Amy has to work and we figured RatDog is only a month away at the same place and we've already got those ticks!!! Anyhoo..Happy Anniversary to you and wifey!!! LeshWeir,Have a great time friday bro...Hope they jam good for ya!! Phats..Im gonna send you a PM....Later ya'll!
Have a good time in Hampton tomorrow night! Tempting, we've never seen DSO. Maybe next year. . . You'll have to report back! Will you be going to Ratdog in July?

Well now that it's pretty clear we're not getting a Fall Tour has anybody heard anything for the future? It worries me everyday to think something could happen that would prevent me from seeing The Dead ever again. Since 2003 I gave seen every single show possible and am just happy to see anything new come up on the 'Tour' page. Unfortunately I was only 10 years old in '95 and had nobody to introduce me. But anyway hoping for a 2010 Tour or possibly a New Years Show or something west coast in the winter. If anybody has heard anything respectable let me know!! Bobby and Mickey wrote this year that if they keep it up a NEW Album in inevitable!
WOW.........Would love to hit the 3 shows in Cali.....John from DSO is playin with Bobby and Phil.....Thats gonna be a hell of a JAM.....Peace- Moye
