one of these days...
which is not today, I will tell folks about the olden days in which Barlow went around interviewing the likes of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates for the computer magazine I used to edit. Including the innocuous question about philanthropy that caused Gates to rise from his chair screeching that Microsoft was not a monopoly. Ah, those were the days...
Barlow Is Another Hero To Me
Thanks for starting a thread for John. His lyric writing was incredible and as well his efforts along the lines of the internet and computer age are both ground breaking and foundation building. Thanks John, for "Let it Grow" (one of the best songs ever written - EVER) and all you've done for Deadheads, America and the cyber dimension!

John Perry Barlow
I was writing about the Grateful Dead in what now seems like a gloriously privileged time. I had access - thanks initially to Eileen Law and, later, Dennis McNally - beyond the dreams of most fascinated by the band in Europe. Mine began with Hunter and it never ever stopped or let up afterwards.
I re-read my Swing 51 interviews with John Barlow these last few days and, by golly, they were phenomenal. So open and revealing. That was John Perry Barlow in a nutshell.
