    great Stones-y, warm fuzzy and narcotic drawl. remember buying this when it came out in '93 on vinyl and that piece of shellac never left my turntable for a good long while.low light wreathed in hazy night time smoke. some members went on to form the equally fantastic, if not more so, Califone.

    You should give Jeff Beck the tone talker a listen.
    In older age Jeff is remarkedly creative. Emotion Commotion with free listening tracks on youTube should stir the music within us. The emotional tones can fill our ears with words and feelings. Talking 'bout emotion: Love your neighbor and Love your enemy....paradox?? Sheen teaches that two emotions can exist in that I could love Stalin but Dislike what Stalin does. All for now, my earthly life beckons for me to keep on praising God's works.

    Blair has been talking about Tim and Nicki Bluhm is his blog posts and Tim Bluhm has recently finished a bunch of shows with Phil at Terrapin Crossroads. He also did a tour with Billy and Mickey a couple years ago. His main band, The Mother Hips from Chico, CA recently celebrated 20 years together as a band. You might remember them from their psychedelic origins playing the HORDE, Gather of The Vibes and Laguna Seca Daze festivals in the early/mid '90s.     they played three videos from the Dead Covers project
    is that what you mean? One Cassidy instrumental, one Brown Eyed Women, one I Will Take You Home. All by different artists. I can find out who they were; I don't remember offhand but they were all really good!

    second annual meet up with the dead at alpine valley
    any one see this at theaters last night? I was wondering if any one knows the name of the band that was playing before the show, from what I remember it looked like they were in a studio playing a couple dead tunes. Any help would be great!

    If you haven't heard of the Sheepdogs...
    ...you probably will soon. These four cool cats from Saskatoon will take over the airwaves and our ipods. Check out "Learn and Burn" and "Five Easy Pieces". A real laid back classic rock sound, greatly influenced by the Allmans, Guess Who and GOGD. I think this band will replace Nicklecrap as the biggest band from Canada. Check em out folks.

They are obviously solid, very tight musicians. However, I found their recorded music to be almost muzac for Deadheads...excellent background music played by exceptional musicians. Luckily, I had opportunity to catch a live show, and for $20, I gave it a shot. All I can say is "Wow"...extreme energy live...very tight, almost disciplined live, but also highly creative and improvisational. They played about 2 1/2 hours non-stop with VERY impressive jams. I highly recommend their live shows.

Dave McMurray, saxophonist late of Was Not Was, has a new album of Dead covers, Grateful Deadication, which sorta came into being when he saw Weir do Days Between at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass a few years back. It's very good.

Any fans digging Billy's awesome live gigs. He's covered lots of Dead tunes "Wharf Rat" , "To lay Me Down", "Me & My Uncle", All done really well. Of course he's played in Billy and the Kids.

Caught these guys a month ago in Va. Maybe next week in the bay area.
Great live show. Much improvisation.
Glorious and joyful originals. Great covers. Fun Jams coming from some very young pups.
Hopefully they're built to last.

I may be spoiled, but Indianapolis has an amazing band called Starcat that performs music by the Jerry Garcia Band with a lineup that resembles Jerry's classic 90's outfit.
