I am assured by Canyon Critter...
...that this venue is extremely friendly and the town is a hippie hang-out. Hey, it's near Santa Cruz, how can you go wrong? I'll be there with bells on after coming up the PCH from la-la land. One of my favorite rides in the universe. Hey, Hey Monterrey! Be there or be square! Hope to see you, Playdead.

Hey Kind Folks, Here's a great topic area for discussion about music, family, camping, Furthur, and all the bands playing in any of the summer festivals this year. I know there were alot of questions about the Furthur Festival in the beginning, like can we bring beer, camp fires, RV hookups, how could the band be playing 6 albums in 6 sets, etc. So thank you Mary for putting this topic up! Here's a list and the links of the festivals that Furthur are doing so far this summer: May 28-30th Furthur Festival, Angels Camp, CA July 4th Nateva Festival, Oxford, ME ~Full festival dates: July 2-4th July 9th All Good Music Festival, Masontown, WV ~Full festival dates: July 8-11th July 30th Gathering of the Vibes, Seaside Park, Bridgport, CT ~Full Festival dates: July 29th-August 1st Personally, I'm for sure going to Furthur Festival and Gathering of the Vibes (unless Lillypalooza II conflicts) Tell us about each festival if your going, or have been! ~Canyon Critter~ _____________________________________________ Will you come with me? Can't wait to see the look on Zeek's face when I show up in Colorado. He'll probably shit, most 30 year old men know better than to take 17 year old children across statelines. Dirty old man, will probably be looking at time for this one. A simple phone call was all I needed to know who she was with and that she was safe.

I contacted through email on how to get tickets and there is an automated response telling us there are 3 ways to get tickets 1. online 2. mail order (over) 3. go to sebastopol and get em. But I asked the question: Question...Can you get tickets @ the door there? or do you have to drive all the way to sebastapol? or get them online? and got this response: If there's any left at the door u can get them there. But there is s strict limit to the number of people that can fit in the concert bowl on the island. Tix are online and will b avail at furthur this weekend at the furthur bus. Thx So the Pranksters and the Furthur Bus will be there selling tickets, but it's a small place they are playing so who knows when they'll sell out.

Meet at the Bonfire! Great idea GCers! I know I'll be meeting up with alot here before hand, but there is little cell phone access if any. I'll try and check dead.net if I get the chance to hang out at one of the hotellers places and get wifi. But for now, look for this Mushroom shirt and my name is Scotty (Canyon Critter), I'll be wearing that evening from Twirlingirl's making, Southern Twirl Tie Dyes. we've had a couple of healthy downpours in Oakland today and it looks like another one coming in. I think the weather forecasts are still for sun at the fest site this weekend, but in view of the fact that the ski resorts are offering Memorial Day ski packages and this is, um, unusual hereabouts, I would recommend coming prepared in case the whole thing really does turn into Woodstock, mud and all.

They could stop somewhere in the vicinity of Colorado on their way from CT to SF?? Hey you know, there is this tiny little inconspicuous amphitheatre in Morrison made out of beautiful red rocks that would be the perfect setting for a Furthur run. I just checked the schedule and there are some openings between 7/31 and 8/14 but they are filling up fast. Bobby could even reunite with his old buddy Jay Lane who is playing with Primus on 8/12. Come on let's do this!! "Lazy lightning you say you never strike the same place. I want a double dose in any case ... You got to hear my supplication. Got to hear me now. http://avontheatre.org/special_events.html#jun17 The Avon Theatre’s Cult Classics Series presents THE GRATEFUL DEAD Rare Clips and Concerts 1960’s – 1980’s Hosted by guest speaker Bill Shelley (Shelley Archives) Thursday, June 17 Special Showtime - 8:00pm Carte Blanche – FREE / Members - $6 / Students/Seniors - $8 / Nonmembers - $10 No Grateful Dead fan will want to miss this amazing program of rare performances… The Grateful Dead were San Francisco’s original psychedelic band from their premiere heyday of 1967 to the untimely death of their leader Jerry Garcia in 1995. Their concerts were musically famous for their long musical jams and legendary caravan of followers. But what was more important was the sensational array of music they created. Shelley Archives Inc has un-earthed from its vaults some of the Grateful Dead’s finest and rarest performances, promotional films, rehearsal footage, and concerts made all around the world. You don’t have to be a true Dead Head to love the music of this band as they perform “Truckin,” “Uncle John’s Band,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Scarlet Begonias,” “Ripple,” “St. Stephen,” “Sugarfree,” “Friend of the Devil,” “Bertha,” to “Touch of Grey,” with some surprises thrown in between. ABOUT BILL SHELLEY/SHELLEY ARCHIVES: As a filmmaker, William Shelley has been shooting professionally since the 1970’s when he captured on film and video bands such as The Stray Cats, Twisted Sister, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts playing in small bars and clubs before they became famous. Shelley later associated with rap group Public Enemy (PE), then known as Spectrum City, going on to direct a number of their videos and become an honorary member of PE’s African American Media Network cable television studio. Shelley Archives Inc. was started in 1985. After working with Readers Digest Entertainment in 1990, the company’s end product was nominated for an Emmy in 1993 for the three part series “Legends of Comedy.” The program was broadcast on the Disney cable network, and home video sales exceeded a record breaking one million copies sold. Today the company has over 100,000 reels of original 35mm and 16mm films in its archive and over 10,000 hours of rare concerts, television shows (from Europe & USA), promos, interviews, out-takes, and home movies, from a wide-ranging variety of subjects. The company has licensed them to numerous documentary and commercial projects throughout the world. Preservation of films and music clips is a main focus of the organization, as well as the desire to compensate the artists. The music continues this summer… PINK FLOYD: 1966 – 1975 – Thursday, July 15 – 8pm LED ZEPPELIN: 1968 – 1980 – Thursday, August 12 – 8pm

You know, many years ago Mary and I went together to the Grateful Dead's first Red Rocks shows in 1978. This summer we will celebrate our 30th wedding aniversary, and we will now will have an additional celebration at the Rocks with Furthur (and friends) in September. What a gift!! "she's my summer love in the spring, fall, and winter..." And now more than ever ;o} The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.
