SIRIUS XM RADIO’S Grateful Dead Channel Presents Its Annual Commemoration Of The Life And Music Of Jerry Garcia
SIRIUS XM’s Grateful Dead Channel continues the tradition of its annual “Jerry Week,” a series of special programming honoring legendary Grateful Dead front man Jerry Garcia with music, archival interviews and rarely heard concerts. “Jerry Week” will launch on the anniversary of Garcia’s birthday, August 1, and will end on the anniversary of his death, August 9. During “Jerry Week,” listeners will hear seven Jerry Garcia solo concerts, both electric and acoustic, as well as recorded songs from his various side projects.
Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux is your host for an exclusive exploration of the latest release in the Road Trips series. Recorded at New York City’s Fillmore East in May of 1970, the album is an amazing aural adventure of one of the band’s early career highlights. Also, this special will feature music not available on the official release as an extra for SIRIUS|XM Dead Heads! The special will air Monday June 14th at 3pm ET, with replays Wednesday June 16th at 9am ET, Friday June 18th at 11am ET, Saturday June 19th at 5pm ET and Sunday June 20th at 1am ET.
