Only GD Hour streams pages 1-15 working p16 onwards do not work

First visit here. Wanted to hear some old GDH I listened to on WNEW back in 1989. Page 16 has a couple I'd like to hear again. I taped many of the shows in 1988-89.

Grateful Dead Hour streams play fine but only shows from the first 15 pages in the listing. There is a clear cutoff with the last GDH on page 15 playing and the previous GDH top of page 16 and all the rest to page 100 or so won't play at all although the jplayer does pop up. Thank you Marye for offering to help. Could be a Rhino tech glitch with this simple cutoff of older postings of GDH. My sense of this is that Dead.net intended all of the streams to work as Marye alludes to.

Pop up blockers on Chrome may have been keeping things from playing. Everything fine on the old browser. Sorry for the technical ineptitude.

A little premature in my last comment. The "Listen Now" button on the home page is working but the "Listen Now" link on the Jam of the Week page which opens a separate player window is not working.

For close to a week now, Jam of the week won't play as well as others. If I click "Listen Now" button, the player displays but nothing plays. If I click "Jam of the Week" button and then "Listen Now" on the next page, a separate window pops up with the player but nothing plays. Have not had problems in the past. Hi, First off i'd like to say i've been enjoying the music - both mp3's and streaming with the resident player - though the mp3's were much more reliable. Thanks folks. That said, this week's selections seem to have some technical problems: 1. when i click on the Sugaree-Minglewood Blues link, even though the title is correct on the player, it plays Music Never Stopped. 2. the link for Scarlet Begonias brings up the player with a "?" and no sound. i'm sure these problems can be easily corrected. Thanks again, and Leave It On! "Music is Love"

the Scarlet works for me, Delta. I've reported Sugaree/Never Stopped mix up.

We THINK the tech folks have fixed this and the Sugaree link should actually play Sugaree now. If, however, this is not happening for you, please speak up. Thanks!

Scarlet works for me today, and the Sugaree>Minglewood is playing (and sounding great) instead of Music Never Stopped, as it should. Thanks for passing the word, and thanks to the fixit person! "Music is Love"

I'm not sure if this has been noted previously but the 9/21/68 studio Jam from the week of Sep 17-23 has no link. The Clementine Jam has a link (and it's great!) so I'd love to hear the Jam as well. Sorry if I've misunderstood and it's a Clementine Jam/Jam rather than two separate tracks but the wording suggests it is indeed two different jams. Thanks!

Hi,I was able to get everything this week to work, with some effort. (Clicking "play" 4,5,6 times or closing my browser and reopening it, again several times.) However, I can't get the Beat It On Down the Line, The Eleven..., nor 1966 Not Fade Away, all from the 2.05.07 Taper's Section to play. The "Clip Player" opens but will not play. Doesn't matter whether I try Windows Media (my preference) or QuickTime. Thanks!

I have Windows Vista. Quicktime streams don't work in IE 7 or Firefox 2. Yes, I have latest QT plugins installed.

I think somebody posted a workaround for this that involves dropping back to IE 6, but since I'm on a Mac I'm going to wait for them to come along and explain. Is it working okay in Windows Media?

I'm using Vista on my new machine with whatever the lastest version of Firefox is, and using the Windows Media Player option for the streams. It seems to work for me... have you tried the non-QuickTime player? I've never been a QuickTime user, so can't offer any words on why that isn't running.

I am having problems downloading the songs from the tapers section ever since the streaming format was changed. I used to have no problem downloading and saving to my computer. Am I doing something wrong or are we just not able to download the selections anymore? Any help will be appreciated.

Never mind my previous post. I finally was able to find all the posts on this topic and found out about the switch that was made a few months ago. Maybe they ought to change the name from THe Tapers SEction to Dead STreams. Anyway, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks

I can't get the Mississippi Half Step>etc. link to play using Windows Media in the Nov. 19-25 07 Taper's Section. The other clips this week work just fine thank you. I"ve noticed in the comments section that a couple of other folks have had the same or similar problems, but I don't seem to be able to find their posts. On Thursday I'll be giving thanks for all y'all working so hard on this site. I'm Grateful every day!

I've been having some trouble streaming some of the old TS/GDH stuff from before the switchover. Is there any way to fix this?
user picture

can you describe the problem specifically with regard to a particular clip?
user picture

On the Feb. 5th 2007 week of the TS, I can play the Tastebud and the Mindbender but the BIODTL and the jam that starts with The Eleven won't play - the player window opens but the tracks won't play. And the GDH # 795 does the same. There are a few others scattered about - usually a few in each of the earlier TSs and random other GDHs - but those are the ones I just checked from memory (I'm at work now, can't check everything). The weird thing is that there doesn't seem to be a clear cutoff point. And I don't remember having a problem before the new streaming player. Thanks for looking into this, Marye!

I haven't had this problem before and wondered if it was a known issue or isolated to me. When trying to stream from the 1/20-1/27 edition (specifically the 6/9/76 St Stephen-Eyes-Let it Grow) there a numerous gaps, some for an instant others for much longer. They don't appear to be in a pattern, i.e. real gaps in the tape. I think it is a techinical issue. Any advice? I used past Tapers Sections in a streaming format many times with no issue. Thanks. What music I can hear is great.

How do i get rid of it ? Is it posible that these scammers implanted a virus ? that may or may not have an affect on the op. systmes of this web site ?? maybe someone implanted a boot bot in the chat room ?? it is very depressing .. not being able to talk to my only freinds. yes ,, i have no freinds outside of here.. only another DeadHead can truley understand a fellow Dead Head ... truley kind people are hard to find almost imposible .. what a sad world we are forced to live in........ While there are many annoyances to be laid at the door of Nelly2Sweet, I assure you the chat room was misbehaving long before she and her scam came along. I've reported the current rash of problems to the tech folks. You should be able to delete Nelly's mail from your inbox; I can't see any obvious way to delete her from your contact list but I'll check with the techs. However, I assure you, her account is blocked and while I can't promise she won't return with a new identity, she ain't coming back as Nelly2Sweet. I'll let you know what I hear back from the techs.

Hi I've posted this a few times in the specific Tapers Section forums but I haven't had any suggestions. Every clip in every Tapers Section since Jan 28-Feb 3 plays in mono for me. I don't believe this is a streaming problem per se because all the clips from before this week play in stereo and all GDH streams play in stereo. For a while assumed that it was intentional and just a result of trying to reduce the size of the streaming files but I've come to doubt this. In this week's Tapers Section another user pointed out that all the streams are in mono, however, another user said that the streams are stereo. Evidently there is some setting/file/programme that I don't have, need to get rid of or need to change that others do have, have removed or have changed. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's a real shame if there isn't something I can do because the mono reduction really wrecks a lot of the clips and I'm starting to give up trying to listen to any because the mono, combined with an already not-very-high quality track means some of the streams are almost unlistenable. Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks for looking into it. I should have brought it up earlier but, as I said, I assumed it was intentional. Perhaps it is...? It could be something to do with the clip player upgrade that happened a while ago.

I get the stream in mono also. I'm on a Mac, OS 10.4.11, using Firefox 2.0.0.14. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this music really needs stereo, many of the recordings have phase issues that mess with the mono sound somethin' terrible.

Hi Marye I have this same problem on different computers, with different connections BUT my main computer/connection is ADSL 512kb/s. I get mono in either browser (IE 7 or Firefox). I definitely do NOT have any problems with the pre January 28 streams, nor with the GDHour streams. Thanks again for persisting with this.

I'm a bozo here, but hey, it's the weekend so for the moment I'm what you've got. To refine the focus a bit more. Take the Playing in the Band clip. Are we talking, you're only getting one channel, or, you're getting two but they're identical? I just listened to it with the headphones, and I could be persuaded of the latter, but I'm definitely getting two channels. I've got an old-school 384kbps SDSL. And 2.0.0.12 on a G4 ibook. In short, say more about the symptoms here. And like I say, this is not my field, so bear with me!
