I've seen some (the bit that's included with the GD Scrapbook). I have to admit, I've always steered away from this one 'cause of Jerry's bad vocal night. I'll give it another shot though on your recommendation. More pro video of this would be nice I guess. Wasn't this show a TV broadcast, or am I mistaken? Pretty sure it was a radio show at least.

Deadbase says it was a simulcast.

and Tapers Compendium said 11/24/78 was the 'For Deadheads Only' show.Jerry did have some voice issues and I think that during that era this show got discounted during those days when his voice was soooo on. Considering what his voice sounded like in some of those shows in the 90s (or even some 80s) was like, I would encourage you to give this another listen. On further (pun intended) thought, maybe I should give it another spin as well.

And I agree with your sentiments about Red Rocks

Vault Minders-Aren't there any of the later Red Rocks video 'proshots' in the vault that we could have in DVD ? Pretty please? We will not complain or crab, I promise. Just to see an era of the GD at that site would be transportive.

Have you seen the video from 11/24/78 @ Capitol Theatre?

I have to say that is one of my very favorite video offerings from 1978.Of course, the video quality is not up to par but it is such a great show. The boys (and Donna) having a wonderful time. The Taping Compendium notes on this show 'Highlights: The entire show'. Haza el-Din is a special guest and when I listened to this on the radio 'back in the day', I loved it. That second set Estimated>Shakedown>jam>drums>Ollin Arageed>Fire>Sugar Magnolia is totally unique. Deadbase XI's account of 11/24/78 by David Greenbrug relates (in part) "Fire segues so seamlessly into Sugar Magnolia that it is easy to miss the transition entirely. It was practically choreographed! In one of the video's finest moments, Jerry, who seems to have instigated the segue, looks over at Weir with a proud stance, as if to say "Hey, wasn't that neat?" while Bob looks back with an utterly shocked espression. I think it took a few seconds for it to register with Bob that they weren't playing Fire anymore!" Anyway I found this video to be a delight even through the sketchy video. 11/24/1978 would be one for Rhino to put out on a DVD. Or give me video of the 1978 Winterland 'From Egypt with Love' shows (pick any of them). Or on second thought give me all of them in sharp DVD resolution. Is the Duke show, when Jerry actually plays drums? Is that the one?

yeah, i guess you're right

I could have consulted my taping compendium to see that the video from '78 is quite limited and does not include the July Red Rocks shows. The April Duke show piques my interest a little, but that's a show that doesn't imprint on my brain as much as the Red Rocks shows do.

If you find a video, please pass it on. I don't recall any video screens at that show in those daze. I vined the audience tapes of Red Rocks in the Vineyard, if you are so inclined.

St. Paul T-Shirt '75 to '82

Hey guys, I am looking to get a t shirt for my dad this Christmas. I know he saw the dead live during the years above, specifically at the St. Paul civic center in 76 and 79; the Met center in 75 and at the Metrodome with Bob Dylan in 82 (or at least those are the years i got from someone in the family who should know, they may be off slightly). I found a website that has retro t shirts, but i am trying to find one that he would have seen when he was at the concert. Any help, either to exact t shirts or to pictures of the art that was on the shirts during these concerts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys

Does Anyone Know Where To Find....

A Gate Crashers Suck Tee-Shirt? as for me i was a little young for the scene and I was watching the '95 end of the road Dvd, when that guy Russ was selling stickers and Tee-Shirts that said "Gate Crashers Suck" on the front and " Thanks For Ruining Our Scene" on back... no problem, this is close enough to the right topic! Are you in Portland? I lean to the theory that the next time Antiques Roadshow comes through town you should score a ticket and bring this thing. Then we'd ALL know! I think the dude with the aloha shirts and the ponytail (aha, here's his Web page: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/roadshow/series/appraisers/s-z/sohmers.html) would have a pretty good idea what the deal was. I used to know who the experts in SF were, but my knowledge is very out of date. You might want to email ol' ponytaildude about the thing and see what he says. Then come back and tell us!

A band called pranava

I am looking for music by this band called Pranava. I was given a demo tape at a west coast dead show in the year of who knows when. It was mostly instrumental, but there were some words as well. I do remember a song called comes around here. The words were some thing like" it goes around again and up and down again and barely comes around here" or something like that. awesome instrumentals. I lost my mind a couple of times listening to that tape and then I lost the tape. Does it sound familiar to anyone? I would love to know.

Taper's Compendium 2

Ahoy,Can anyone please help me find a copy in good shape of the Deadheads Taping Compendium no.2? Please let me know the price that you ask. If possible an estimate of the postage in the U.S. (if you happen to live there, off course). Otherwise the book has to be sent to The Netherlands, where I live. I already own no. 1, which I enjoy very much. The episodes of the early history of the band and of the acid tests are excellent. I also use the book to read about the shows that I have and the ones that can be downloaded from the internet. I borrowed no.2 from a friend but he does not want to part with it and copying the entire book is just too much. I also looked in 2nd hand bookshops but the Grateful Dead are not very popular here so I can't find a copy here. So if you want to part with a book that you have but don't use anymore you can do me a great favor. "Ship of Fools"

Found Interesting Vinyl

I recently found a mint condition set of vinyl recordings of the Dead Live at Gizah. It is a 3 album set of all three days 9/14 915/ and 9/16, 1978. They have never been played and comes in the original box with the original sticker and the original program from the show. What is something like that worth???

Confiscated stuff

I'd like to applaud Hal R for taking the moral high ground here, but I'd like to see it go a half-step furthur. Let's say the rightful owner of the stickers could be found. Then let's say Steph puts the stickers up for bid on a storefront for, oh, I don't know, a month. Then at the end of the month, Steph "confiscates" the amount of the winning bid from her father, and returns that and the stickers to the rightful owner. Tut Zut! Whaddaya say? Wanna be known as Even Saint Steph(en)? Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

Prank or no?

Hard to say. No sign of Steph over on Shakedown Street yet. Regarding ownership authentication, all we know so far is stickers and Hartford. What isn't known yet is year of show, design on stickers, and approximate number of stickers. Those are things that whoever had them confiscated would probably know. Anybody who thinks that these things might belong to them could consider PMing Steph with that info. Likewise, Steph might consider keeping those details private, for now. And if it is just some kind of prank, I guess eventually we'll all be let in on the joke. Otherwise, there's not much of a point to it, is there? Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

the stickers are of steal your face, shakedown and a larger one of jerry dated 83 and a partial roll of worchester oct 8&9 from 84. also are window stickers of shakedown and a one eyed skull with roses and a bone. pop was a security guard there by the way and he confiscated stuff at other shows too.... he also gave me about 6-8 tapes as well. not a joke folks, if any one interested i will scan them into the computer. steph

Apparently, this is no longer available for purchase, but I would love to get my hands on that last show in Atlanta. If somebody has it and doesn't mind burning it for me, I'll gladly pay for postage etc., and make a donation in the amount of the CD to a Grateful Dead charity. 80's Somthing Poster

I recall a flag at a show once, or it may have been a poster. It was the image of a Minuteman holding a replica of Jerry's guitar. Does anyone else remember this? My first show was 83 but I don't think I saw that one until later on. Hey Hez': This was out in 1985 or 1986 and was for the 20th anniversary. I had this poster in my dorm room as a college frosh. I have photo with the poster in the background - but it is not good enough to copy image.

ISO parade photos from 1990-02-27 mardi gras show

i was fortunate enough to get chosen to build a float for the mardi gras parade in 1990 at the coliseum. would love to find some photos documenting the event. my float was a replica of the berlin wall... we threw off the cardboard blocks as we moved through the crowd. would love to see what it looked like from another perspective! big microscope: live music and liberal rants
