Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’re going to check out music from 1981, 1982, and 1989, a plethora of Brent-era Dead.
Our first selection this week is from 8/14/81 in Seattle, when we have a bit of a different sequence featuring Playing In The Band>China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. This comes on the heels of playing the Playing>Rider from 8/5/89 here at the Tapers’ Section, an even more different sequence.
Next, from a year later on 7/28/82 at Red Rocks, we have a second sequence of Althea, Let It Grow, He's Gone>Truckin', featuring two songs usually found in the first set in Althea and Let It Grow.
Our final bit of Grateful Dead music this week is the start of the second set from the final show of a three night at Cal Expo on 8/6/89, featuring Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain, Samson and Delilah, Ship Of Fools, Man Smart Woman Smarter. This was my first time attending shows at Cal Expo, and because of how great music was, and how much fun I had, it wasn’t the last. What a great place.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes form the vault.
