Saint Jerry's Picnic..or.. (even) Furthur in Eugene, Oregon !!!
Jurassic Blueberries and the Citizens of Eugene, Oregon, (the grateful ducks) Thank, Bobby Weir and Phil Lesh, for the dark, volcanic, waves of musical hot magma that reigned down upon our city at the recent and magnificent "Furthur" shows. Cool breezes blowing the swirling colors of light and sweet smoke that disappeared between the leaves on the tall audience of trees and peaceful old and fresh Dead Heads dancing wildly, while Dark Star->Other One soared upwards into night and beyond. Furthur, beckoned the "Saint like" spirits of both Garcia and Kesey, back to our "riverside picnic" in Cosmic, "lavender bud" scented Eugene, Oregon. Come back again soon !!!!

Hey jhryssa, are they real? Never heard of Dead tickets printed off of computer. Other tickets, yes, but not dead. Sounds like those would be too easy to copy and counterfit, but if you did it, what site did you use? Just curious:)Peace, Love, Dead

The beauty of self-printed tickets is that no one in their right mind would buy one off a scalper, given how easy it is to photocopy them. The overwhelming odds are that anyone who offers you a ticket they say was printed at home is trying to pawn off a fake. More bands should consider allowing folks to print their own at home. It's easier for the fan and safer for folks trying to score a spare outside, so long as folks think before they buy from strangers. "When it comes to humility, I'm the greatest!" - Bullwinkle Moose

You would feel confident in buying a self-printed ticket from someone is if that person then agreed to stand right behind you in line to get into the venue so that if you can't get in due to a fake ticket then the person is right there. Also if the person was willing to do that then it is pretty obvious he/she is selling a legit ticket. "I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel. Can't win for tryin. Dust off those rusty strings just one more time. Gonna make em shine."

Ticketmaster has a link to print your own and save on mail fees - tixx are bar coded and can only let one in per scan - its legit

I have 2 extra and have no fear trading them as I am going alone and would be happy to walk in with my buyers to ensure entry - I'd never rip off a friend of the dead

get paranoid and double checked ticketmaster - it is legit and most tixx bought there will be print outs - I also just booked a room at the doubletree about 1/4 mile away which looks awesome for $79 and I have no driving fears

My last show was The Dead Greensboro, NC Easter Weekend last year. Almost a year for any live music, but bar bands. So psyched. This is my first show at Hampton Roads, anyone know how laid back of a venue it is? I want to party, but not have advanced interrogation techniques applied by Das Homeland for terroristically cracking a cold beer or something. I know it sounds ridiculous, but nothing surprises me anymore. See you there! Lives of great men all remind us
Greatness takes no easy way,
all the heroes of tomorrow,
are the heretics of today.
...
Why do great men all remind us,
we can write our names on high
 And departing leave behind us
thumbprints in the FBI. -Yip Harburg

If past history means anything,The Hampton Coliseum has a reputation of helping the city balance it's budget by busting as many attendees as possible. The recent Phish shows set a record for guests at the city jail. I hope i'm wrong as i hate saying such negative things about a fine city;and my hometown. But i will be there. Wouldn't miss it. Y'all be safe.

We went to see Further play last night in Asheville, NC. They really played a great show. The band was just amazing, could have not been better. The long jams were awesome, the highlight for me was the haunting Stella Blue. I was really glad to have been there. Get there if you can, you will have a great time. Coconut Phil, living Free.

Kind of a strange setlist (for me, anyway) last night in Charlotte, but the band sounded awesome throughout. John K can fill the lead guitar/singer spot (will NOT call it the "Jerry part") anyday in my book. Have never seen DSO, have avoided listening to bands who make a living pretending to be other, more famous bands...but John has definitely clicked with this band. More, please!

Headed down for Saturday's show, and can't wait! Does anyone know of anything to do before or after the show? ( bars or whatever)

Our shows are just a week away - starting to get pretty excited! We're listening to some of the recent shows on Internet Archives - nice!I keep wondering why this tour isn't generating the same excitement as last year's tour. The music sounds great to me. Is it the name? Was there not enough stress in the ticket-buying process? What do you think?

It is only half of the remaining members and they aren't called the Dead. I am going to Portland but don't think that this means as much to the general public and lots of folks like Warren Haynes ( I do), he has a much bigger name. This has less recognition. If the shows are less crowded and the people less jaded I know I'm going to have a great time in these venues where I've left footprints. Some times popularity kills the x-factor.

I was waiting until I saw Furthur live before making up my mind. For my money this is the best post Jerry configuration I've heard! I was as skeptical as anyone of John, but hes got the goods. No doubt that he does sound very much like Jerry, but he is doing much more than copying Jerry licks. He seems to be someone who knows the music inside out and understands its nuances. He plays in the Garcia style but is contributing his own ideas. And for whatever reason Bobby and Phil seem really energized by this band! Great crowd too! Large enough to fill the Coliseum with energy but not huge. Seemed to be folks who were serious about the music and the scene. I'm somewhat hungover but still feeling great after last nights show! Thanks guys!

I'm so encouraged to see a really Magick show again. Nice little Shakedown scene, even in the freezing snow drifts. John K. was channeling Jerry for sure. (We're so proud of him, we've followed DSO for many years.) The boys were really havin' a ball. Help>Slip>Franklin was my favorite part last night. I wish I could see more of the tour. I'm just gonna have to get that GD radio deal - I heard tonight from Cornell is live on satellite.~ Dred

Is that other than Colorado and Illinois, the middle of the country gets no love. Seriously though think about it .. most of the Dead and Furthur shows the last 2 years are in states that touch the ocean. I'm not complaining too much because they have/will come to CO a few times at least but still ... "Here's my half a dollar if you dare .. double twist when you hit the air. Hwat a Great Furthur show- heres my little review ! amazing show :Dupree's ??, Alligator ?, Hurricane ? On The road Again ? Get Back ? Hard To Handle ? Corrina ? Incredible surprises I missed maybe 2 songs cause I was stuck in the ladies room! But wow what an amazing night of Break-outs Furthur has gone Furthur yet again ! after the show started with : 'Music Never Stopped,' I felt like a kid at Christmas, anticipating what could be inside the presnets under the tree/ O O WHAT A SHOW ! everything was crisp, The sound In Sheas' was nice, one the best mixes I've heard on this tour. My seat was in the Orchestra, about half way back. when I wandered up front it just sounded even better, and clearer. John was energetic and Bobby really seemed to rocking, It was nice to really be able to hear Bobby and Phil in the mix loud and clear, not muddy ! enjoyed the " break -out " factor of the setlist, I found it to be refreshing- something different... the flow' wasnt an issue ! great energy ! after 11 Furthurs (so far ) this was almost like a new A GREAT vibe loved it ! Sheas is soo cool with the curtains in the balcony boxes, and the embelishments on the ceiling. The great colors and Opera house decor. The venure really looked cool, brought back memories of many -Buffalo shows past ! security was good too, no problems with dancing

You don't hear anyone talking about "fake Jerry" AFTER they've seen Furthur, and with good reason! We just saw two awesome shows, and I think this band just clicks together perfectly! Warren was great, don't get me wrong, but he really has such an Allman Brothers sound - not that this is a bad thing, but it's not so much of a Dead thing. And it always kind of felt like he was on loan from his day job until the Dead filled their vacancy. Furthur truly feels like the beginning of a new era, a band well-named. 2/18/10 Manchester: Set 1: Feel like a Stranger>Loose Lucy>Must've Been the Roses>Deep Elem>Just a Little Light>Money for Gasoline>Loser>Sugaree Set2: Trucking>Deal>Viola Lee Blues>Nobody Girl>Bird Song>Born Cross-Eyed>Scarlet>Fire>Sugar Mag>The Weight 2/19/10 Amherst: Set 1: Jam.Not Fade Away>Althea>New Minglewood Blues>Dire Wolf>Brown Eyed Women>FOTD>Cassidy>Casey Jones Set2: Lost Sailor>St of Circumstance>New Speedway Boogie>Drums>King Solomon's Marbles>Caution>Dark Star>The Othe One>Let it Grow> Not Fade Away reprise>Knockin on Heaven's Door There was also definitely a Slipnot in there, although I'm not seeing it on other posted setlists. Honest! I heard it - and I only had two glasses of wine all night :) I also wonder that I never paid more attention to Jay Lane before - he was amazing! Congratulations to you lucky folks whose shows are yet to come!

Nokia shows (7/28/10 & 7/29/10) are impossible to get tickets for unless you purchase another ticket for the MCU 6/27/10 show. The so called Single and Triple options do not work on the Ticketmaster site. The only option one has is to buy the MCU 6/27 show and get just one Nokia show. You want to see both Nokia shows, then you must buy the 6/27 show twice! I personally walked down to the Nokia box office in Times Square and they confirmed the only option available is one Nokia ticket per MCU Park ticket. Us poor fools who already bought the MCU Park ticket a while ago are now being asked to buy the same ticket 2 more times. This is robbery! Where is the band in this?

If there is one this I miss most is not being able to experience Jerry anymore. Saw his last NJ show. I miss you Jerry, but you live on in your music.

I have not been to any Furthur shows. Can anyone tell me how they compare to GD shows w/o Jerry?

Y'know, this lineup has two original members of the Grateful Dead. Bob likes to sing some of the Jerry songs. Phil is singing his heart out. Kadlicek, Chimenti, Russo and Lane all do a more than adequate job. Then biggest difference sppears to be the drummers. It ain't a dead show but it has most of the same elements, minus drums and space. Some people don't like everybody singing the songs from the audience side. I urge you to go to archive.org and check the sound out for yourself. Ticket prices are right and though a lot more shows are selling out there is not the huge crush or frantic scene anymore. You should be very happy to have JK on lead.
