Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1969, 1981 and 1989, a nice range of eras for the Grateful Dead.
From 11/7/69 at the Fillmore Auditorium, we have the start of the show, featuring Morning Dew, Hard To Handle, Casey Jones, Mama Tried, Me and My Uncle, Cold Rain and Snow. This was recorded the night before the majestic show that would make up Dick's Picks Vol. 16, which included a spectacular second set jam.
Next up is the start of the show from 5/12/81 in New Haven, featuring Alabama Getaway > Greatest Story Ever Told ; Peggy-O; Cassidy ; It Must Have Been The Roses ; Me And My Uncle > Big River. The Big River is cut on the master cassette, which is to say this sequence makes up the entirety of Side A on the master cassette
Lastly this week is the end of the second set from 10/12/89 at the Meadowlands, featuring Space>The Other One>Wharf Rat>Sugar Magnolia. This is the second night of a five night run in New Jersey. The next night, a night off for the band, Bob and Jerry appeared on the David Letterman show and performed Second That Emotion.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
