Week of April 15-21, 2019
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll hear three very distinct periods of Grateful Dead music.
Our first selection this week is from the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, where we have this huge jam featuring some of the Dead’s biggest songs from this era, Dark Star > Uncle John's Jam> Dark Star> Cryptical Envelopment> Drums > The Other One> Turn On Your Love Light, including a wee Uncle John’s Band tease about a month before the song would be debuted live.
Next is music from the first show of the first leg of the Fall Tour of 1973, from 9/7/73 at Nassau Coliseum, where we have this terrific batch of classic 1973 first set music: Row Jimmy; Looks Like Rain; Deal; El Paso; Bird Song; Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week is music from the first night of a three night run at Ventura County Fairgrounds on 6/12/87, where we have the end of the show, featuring Space > The Wheel > I Need A Miracle > Black Peter> Around And Around> Good Lovin', Touch Of Grey.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
