Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music spanning 15 years of Grateful Dead history.
Our first selection is from 11/7/69 from the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, featuring Next Time You See Me, High Time, Good Lovin', China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. There's a cut in the master reel (reel change, actually) during High Times, but otherwise this sounds pretty darn good. The next night, of course, was released as Dick's Picks Vol. 16
From four years later on 9/7/73 at Nassau Coliseum, we have the end of the first set, featuring Row Jimmy ; Looks Like Rain ; Deal ; El Paso ; Bird Song ; Playing In The Band. It's always the sign of a great show from this era when the first set featured both of the big first set jamming songs (Bird Song and Playing).
Lastly this week, from City Island in Harrisburg, PA on 6/23/84, we have the start of the first set featuring Alabama Getaway > The Promised Land ; Peggy-O ; Little Red Rooster ; Brown Eyed Women ; My Brother Esau. There were quite a few really good shows on the summer tour of 1984, running right through the Ventura shows later in July.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
