I checked, and I was wrong: you DO need to create a separate account for the Store. Let me know if you have problems doing this.

When does the subscription offer to 2011 Road Trips end? In other words, when do I have to get my payment in so I can take advantage of this offer?

on the page. And, in other news, I am told that the tracks on the bonus disc will be unique to that disc and not repeated elsewhere.

Allis, I don't know if you're still 'here' but I bought the Texas Road Trips set and got the bonus disk. IIRC the second disk was a bad pressing. It looked like pretty swirly rainbow watercolors under the outer edge of the plastic and would only play the first half, then start to skip more and more until the poor CD player would completely lose the plot, give up and holler for its mama. Anyway! I called the customer service number and after one -- yes, one -- relatively brief and very polite conversation the folks shipped a new CD (not the whole set, darn it! :)) within a couple of days that was just exactly perfect. I do need to think a bit about the Road Trips subscription package but not because of any problems or concerns what-so-ever about the store or the staff. Scott

Regine "Pegi", Prinzess of Hohenzollern (yeah, he wasn't lieing. It is me).Edelweiss. I am so glad to see contact from remainder of Grateful Dead in my mail. I always feel so much better when I put a Dead disc on the machine. But I haven't done it. I haven't done much of anything except keep my stepdad from dieing. Got six out of seven diabteoc wounds healed. Seems the loss of my "Baby Cats" took the heart out of me. Haven't been out to sing, haven't put a disc on to spin, haven't had music in my ears. Not except by default; an infomercial from the 60' & 70's which woke me up. Just not me anymore. Some things tear your heart out. It's happened too often. I'm exhausted. Am trying to do my new blog, http://prinzessinhohenzoller.blogspot.com but even that, I don't keep up. Except for Mannheim Steamroller found at the local Lowe's Hardware, haven't even thought about music. And before, I couldn't live a day without it. God the way things in this land are set up to destroy us. It's cheaper for them. Please keep sending the emails. I might reconnect with myself again. Love and Peace, Pegi Regine

Last summer I saw this guy wearing a shirt that said Grateful Dead AARP tour on it. It had a picture of a skeleton covered in roses using a walker. It also said something like "livin on meds vitamin C and Rogaine," A play on the line from Truckin. I've been looking for this shirt ever since. It would be perfect for my uncle! If anyone knows where to get one please please let me know!

Here's a link to Music by Jerry, under the heading "The Band. http://www.dead.net/musicby/Jerry+Garcia Doodle around for the music by Bob, Phil, Vince and Brent. I see "Passenger" is listed under Phil, although Donna, then Brent, seem to be the primary vocalists. Check this site out for all sorts of info: http://www.deaddisc.com/index.html

Why don't the track listings appear for most of the music items in the store? See the store item pages for Dick's Picks 30 or Steppin' Out for example. It seems an important enough detail to include. Or, am I just missing it. Hmmm.

Hi there. I pre-ordered through this site, but haven't received a confirmation e-mail. Should I have? Should I simply assume that the order went through? Thanks, Joanne Dinsmore

but if you ordered when the site was crashing etc. on the first day, I'd follow up with customer service. If you reserved a copy when the reservation system went up, you should be hearing back shortly with ordering instructions. It is better to check with customer service than to just assume all is well, though.

as I have never heard of replacement jackets being available for recordings. But unfortunately it wasn't Road Trips I had this experience with...

Warner Brothers states it will not be responsible for actors of God like the USP Man stealing your E72 customized box because he was stoned. Neither shall they be responsible for your neglect of the weather in the Florida keys. I find no mention of this at the fan site's forums, (PhilZone), anywhere-- only chatter on other stuff. Can anyone shed some light as to what my favorite instrumentalist on the planet is up to with that gorgeous chunk of cybersapce he developed? A moderator, if one exists? Anybody? Thanks. Sonic'72

Hi Marye, Before I ask my question(s) I just wanted to say to you that for the past two months I have noticed that you are just an incredibley hard working, huge hearted, fully responsive and priceless piece to all that is Dead.net and I want to thank you for all that you do... you rock! I am new to the Vine world and now find myself addicted... once again, I think your the one responsible for this :-) I have "met" some really cool people (well, interated with) through this vine and I can't wait to see the next door that Dead.net opens for me... I am looking for new vines, outside of the Dead family... like Mechelle N'degecello (sp?), Prince and/or other funky stuff... Are there other Deadheads like me that also have a funky side? Also, Road Trips... Any idea what the remaining 3 releases will be (what periods?). You don't have to divuldge the actual dates. Finally, yes Europe '72 !! I can't wait for the Suitecase... any tidbits that can be shared? Please ? Much love & respect, iGrateful

I am new to the forum scene here- and a great one it it! I was just wondering, in most (if not all) the forum topics, it says "You are not allowed to post" or something to that nature. If I wanted to post a new topic about the Greatful Dead movie being re-released this April, how & where would I do that? I would imagine a lot of heads (and those who never got to see the band) are excited about this event and it would be cool to hear about that. Thank you!

you would send me a PM about it. I'm the forums moderator and I can start topics. This is a basic chaos management issue. In this particular case, I suspect something more official is coming down the pike, but in the meantime, no reason we can't start something...

I'm not sure. He used to be pretty active on old Dead.net, now Deadnet Central/DNC, but when I checked over there the other day on the occasion of his birthday he didn't seem to be around so much anymore. I'll look into what the current PO Box status is because my brain is stuck in the old reality on that one (and it's Saturday so no one's around to ask) and I don't want to give you bad advice, but I'm sure there still exists some mechanism for writing a letter and having it forwarded, as it were. I'll let you know what I find out.

A page has just appeared asking international customers to select a shipping preference. Could we perhaps have a little more explanation? We have already agreed to a shipping cost of $85..I very much hope that is not going to change ...so what are the differences between shipping by UPS or USPS? thanks

But has no correlation to WMG continuous lack of professionalism or ethics.
It’s not the carriers fault if they don’t receive it to ship…
    -
Over the last almost two weeks, we finally received a few promising customer service reply’s stating that our box was (for whatever not given reason) still not shipped and that it would NOW be expedited and notice given upon shipment.
5 more days have gone by since last assurance, and still no notification, box etc…
    -
    Why so much worry?
It appears most everyone has received theirs except some of our friends across the pound. That, along with site listing ever dwindling supply is causing undue stress/contempt and once again ruining what should have a been an extremely positive, enjoyable GD experience.
This seems to get worse every year instead of better, why?
They certainly had no problem charging our CC months ago and getting paid….

Just wanted to offer some data in support of expanding the options for shipping services at checkout. A preliminary inquiry into the efficacy of shipping carriers yielded the following general results:
    -
UPS: Ranks 1st in on-time Ground reliability with a reliability rate of 96%
FedEx: Ranks 2nd at 95%, also with superior overnight service
USPS Priority: Ranks 3rd at 94% reliability
USPS: Ranks 4th at 89% reliability of on-time delivery for standard ground/retail
    -
Pitney Bowes offers a general, detailed comparison review of services in: "USPS vs UPS vs FedEx: How You Can Get the Best Shipping Rates"
    -
Regarding business services, Rush Order offers a breakdown of services in a quick comparison table with pros and cons of each in "UPS vs USPS vs FedEx: 2026 Cost Comparison & Performance Data"
    -
UPS leads business reliability performance with an on-time delivery rate of 97.2% to 97.6%, outperforming FedEx (95.3% to 96.1%) and USPS (94.1% to 94.2%)

Any chance of adding a variety of shipping options and allowing the customer to choose, and pay accordingly, for their choice?

Is it the deliverers fault if it’s not shipped at all, or if no notification is given ?
    -
The easy solution is to give the consumer the choice at time of purchase
Like BITD, you could chose how to ship, depending on the costumers need, by simply clicking on appropriate method, and at a premium if necessary.
At check out, you click on shipping option, it shows the price, and you confirm at final check out. If it could be achieved back then, with new technologies it should be even easier to set up now.
Since our location fosters a convoluted confusing situation, we would gladly pay additional shipping in order to ensure the product is delivered correctly, thereby alleviating unnecessary stress, hassles, and affecting the enjoyment of the product.
It would save the seller having to rectify so many problems, and perhaps even provide additional revenue instead.
    -
    New Fish
Many of us have been suggesting, bitching, moaning and howling at the moon about this for a long time.
The hybrid method usually works pretty well for DaPs, but for everything else, the ability to simply choose the correct method at shipping seems like a no brainer?

I think the culprits in the Shipping Blues are the delivery services, not dead daht net.
They send it out into the ether and then it is up to the shippers to bring it to the customer. the shippers are the ones who send it to NYC then to Chicago to be stored for a week and then to LA, and finally sent to Vermont.
Luckily, I have never had to sing the Shipping Blues.
I hope I never have to.

Hi! I'm new to the site and very grateful to be here! I joined just in time to witness the release and shipment of the Summer Magic '85 20 CD set. As days passed, there was a growing deluge of shipping delays, misinformation, no information and changing information from carriers reported by a large group of very discontented customers, and I understand that this is in no way an isolated incident. I honestly have never witnessed such an inordinate amount of total chaos in a shipping situation by such a large and well-respected organization.
    -
I am well aware that shipping services have declined in many ways during the past few years and that this decline is the majority of the problem. But there are two strategies that stand out for me that are within your control, and they were pointed out repeatedly by customers on some of the threads, so I felt inspired to share them here for your consideration:
    -
    1.) Offer expedited shipping.
As I understand it, you cryptically don't offer it now and it goes a long way towards ensuring shipments arrive in a timely manner. Customers are literally begging for it.
2.) Consider the reality of shipping delays when deciding how early to ship product to meet the release date. Product may need to be shipped earlier to factor in the reality of today's delayed service.
    -
The customer base here would be so incredibly grateful to see these two things take place, myself included, as I am just beginning my journey here. Thank you, respectfully and sincerely.

There is an inordinate amount of ongoing discontent, glitches and chaos surrounding shipping going on. It is obvious that a lot of it is rooted in the shipping carriers. Can anything be done on this end in the future to mediate it in some way and help?

Is this the right place to ask “what can I use the coupon for?” Today is my birthday (me & Mickey) & I received the yearly coupon email from Dead dot net. Went to try it on the new box set. No luck.
    I figure maybe that’s because it’s a preorder, so I try the new Dave’s Picks. Also a no-go.
I checked the email & there are no restrictions listed, but I can’t get it to work on anything.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I am sincerely appreciative of the generosity, but it won’t do me any good if I can’t use it on anything in the store.

    Thanks!

EDIT - I just now tried it with the MSG box (how is that still available?) and it worked there. So I’ll wait a week until the Summer ‘85 box is officially released & update then.
