Holy S#%*! It’s the COMPLETE Europe ’72 Box! On Over 60 Discs!

    $450.00
    Europe '72:
    The Complete Recordings

Hey now! Due to overwhelming demand, surprising even those of us with huge faith in the Europe '72 project, the entire limited edition run of 7,200 boxed sets has sold out in less than 4 days. We thank you beyond words for your support and belief in this unprecedented and wonderful release.

After lengthy discussions, we've decided we don't want to deprive anyone of this music, some of the finest the Grateful Dead ever performed. Of course, we're keeping to our promise that the boxed set and all of its accouterments will not be made available beyond these 7,200 boxed sets (and wait until you see the case in which the music is housed, the hard-bound coffee-table book, plus all of the other cool surprises we've been unearthing!). But, we're going to offer just the music, all 22 shows, more than 60 CDs, more than 70 hours of music, each show housed in its own packaging, for the same price as the boxed set, $450 including domestic shipping. Although perhaps not as cool as the boxed set, the bottom line is that the most important aspect of Europe '72: The Complete Recordings is going to be made available to all, the music.

Because you dared dream this might happen one day… Because you went down to the Gypsy Woman and offered up your first-born to try to make it happen… Because there are enough passionate Dead Heads at Rhino/GD who thought it might be cool for this to happen… It’s happening! Coming in September is a gargantuan, beautifully designed EUROPE ’72 MEGA-BOX SET containing ALL 22 SHOWS of what is arguably the greatest tour the Grateful Dead ever played, on a whopping 60+ DISCS (over 70 hours of music!). Bet you didn’t see that comin’!

Really, at this point we probably don’t need to lay on too much hype about how wonderful the music is: Chances are, if you’re even considering buying a copy of this stunning box, you already know how amazing the Dead’s tour of Europe in April and May of 1972 was. To review briefly, though, the Dead’s first tour outside of North America took them to all sorts of historic and unusual venues in England, Denmark, West Germany, France, Holland and even tiny Luxembourg. Many members of the Dead “family” came along on what was really an extended working vacation that was designed to both expose the Dead to new audiences and also reward the band for their unlikely conquest of America during the preceding two years. As a hedge against the costs of the nearly two-month trip, the Dead’s label, Warner Bros., paid for the band to lug around a 16-track recorder to capture the entire tour… and we’re glad they did!

This was a band at the top of its game, still ascending in the wake of three straight hit albums — Workingman’s Dead, American Beauty and the live Grateful Dead (“Skull & Roses”). It had been a year since the lineup had gone to its single-drummer configuration, six months since Keith Godchaux had been broken in as the group’s exceptional pianist, and this marked the first tour to feature Donna Godchaux as a member of the touring band. There was a ton on new, unreleased material that came into the repertoire in the fall of ’71 (after “Skull & Roses” was out) and during the spring of ’72, including “Tennessee Jed,” “Jack Straw,” “Mexicali Blues,” “He’s Gone,” “Comes A Time,” “Ramble on Rose,” “One More Saturday Night,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Looks Like Rain” and Pigpen’s “Chinatown Shuffle,” “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion)” and “Mr. Charlie.” (Sadly, this was Pigpen’s final tour.) All those future classics were interspersed with songs from the aforementioned “hit” albums—such as “Uncle John’s Band,” “Brokedown Palace,” “Cumberland Blues,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Bertha,” “Not Fade Away,” et al — and then were topped off by loads of big jamming numbers — the Europe ’72 tour produced spectacular versions of “Dark Star,” “The Other One” “Playing in the Band,” “Truckin’,” “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Good Lovin’,” “Lovelight” and even the early Pig chestnut “Caution.” And that’s leaving out a truckload of other tunes, too! There wasn’t a clunker show in the bunch, and many are acknowledged today as classics. No doubt you already have some favorites.

Through the years, there have been a few releases of material from the Europe tour—starting with the 3-album Europe ’72 which knocked our socks off in the fall of that year, and followed many years later by material from a pair of German shows and the fantastic 4-CD Stepping Out, culled from the group’s eight shows in England. Incredibly, though, only one full show from the tour has come out previously: the excellent 4/24 concert in Dusseldorf, Germany, released as Rockin’ the Rhein in 2004.

Until now, that is. Jeffrey Norman, who has been the primary mixer of Dead archival multi-track material for the past 15 years (Fillmore West ’69, Ladies and Gentlemen…, Rockin’ the Rhein, Nightfall of Diamonds, etc.) has spent many months toiling over the 16-track masters from the tour, and will continue working on the mixes through the Winter and Spring, employing the high-tech Plangent Processes transfer and restoration tools, trying to get every show to sound “just exactly perfect” (as Bob Weir says) for this release. You might think you’ve heard that intense “Dark Star” > “Sugar Mag” > “Caution” from Copenhagen, but I guarantee you’ve never heard it sound this alive! Mastering to HDCD specs is two-time Grammy-winning engineer David Glasser of Airshow Mastering. Needless to say, all the songs that turned up on previous Europe compilations will be appear in their proper show contexts, and in the case of songs from the Europe ’72 album, without overdubs that were added later (where possible).

The packaging is, as you might expect, first rate. Each show is its own Digipak, with its own liner notes by top Dead scholars (including David Gans, Steve Silberman, and Nicholas Meriwether) and attendees of some of the concerts, and many never-before-seen photos. Additionally, there is an enormous book worthy of coffee table treatment featuring hundreds more photos and a comprehensive essay by yours truly (Blair Jackson). The box will also contain other memorabilia and ephemera from the tour.

A rough sketch of the potential packaging.
Check back soon for more product images.

At $450, this clearly will not be a box for everyone. In fact, this individually numbered boxed set will be limited to orders placed with a maximum of 7,200 boxes produced. As a special bonus, the first 3,000 orders will receive a personalized copy. Due to the huge manufacturing costs (wait 'til you see it! We're doing something unlike any other boxed set release ever! It's exceptional!!), we need to hit 3,000 sales before we even go into production. If we don't reach 3,000 by April 1st, the boxed set won't be able to happen. This isn't a gun-to-your-head sales pitch. Rather, we want to be open with you about the realities of this release's massive scope and ambition.

    -->

So dig deep, raid the penny jar, take a weekend job at Jack-in-the-Box, beg your kindly ol’ grandma for some of your inheritance early… Yes, it’s an extravagance, but jeez, you (or your loved one) deserve it! This is way cool.

Is the "All the Music Edition" still available

besides looking at the resale sites, are the All the music edition of Europe '72 still available on the Dead website for purchase?

    What to hear after this

I've been neck deep in this box for a month and its awesome. I'm pretty close to hearing the whole tour but have lost track to be honest. If I wanted to dig this deep into another batch of Dead that would represent the band's next step in their development after the 72 tour what would it be?

resales are gonna happen, but this limited edition set for 500 on ebay, with free shipping, might be the only way that someone who missed out on this release may be able to obtain one, is that a bad thing? Someone will snap that one up cause I can see this release going for a lot more in the future. What could rhino or the other powers that be have done to stop someone from reselling their own property? If you remember they were worried that they wouldn't have demand for the original 7200, so they certainly weren't going to limit the number one could order, and that would have been about the only way they could have controlled resales, but it still would have happened. There is always going to be opportunities for profit from grateful dead limited # releases, that's supply and demand, big demand, little supply, nothing new, just check out all of the oop cd's and lp's that are on ebay now for high prices. There were only 7200 and I don't think we all bought one for resale, so these first ones will vanish and then watch and see how much they will be, if you can even find one.

When "she who must be obeyed" looks at me like I'm totally f 'ing nuts for spending $450.00 on music and I show her the prices going on ebay, she looks at me like "well, gee, you were smart!" Maybe I won't have to sleep on the couch again tonight ;-) Thanks ebay?

that the personalized copies are numbered, and the non-personalized copies are not, if that clarifies the issue for anyone. As for people who should have personalized copies and something has gone awry, we're working to get that fixed, stay tuned.

treasure chests in California. Finally called in to caldead. Having not had any contact since the pre-authorizing letter was sent out I couldna' take it any longer. After about a 10 minute wait a pleasant sounding young man said his name asked, "How may I help you Don?". I told him. He said, "sure, one moment. Yes, your package is in San Pablo, both boxes are together and slated for a Friday delivery. Looks like they'll probably arrive before that. I will email your tracking number in a couple of minutes." Which he did. I guess my cell phone # that he read at call in was all he needed cuz he never asked me for any info.Big, huge sigh of relief. I did have to update my cc expiration date last month and was getting concerned. Marye did say that all snags would get worked out. Even if it takes a few weeks, no one is going to lose their order.

Got my box today - and am digging in. A question: Does anyone know if there is a place online where one could download/copy the 22 different illustrations (.jpeg or otherwise) that are on each of the show/disc cases? I'm meticulous with my iTunes album art. Thanks!

With all your celebrating and what not. ;) I just want to get my hands on the personalized box I ordered so I can ride off into the sunset and never shop at this store again ever. This was hands down the worst buying experience of all time. I know I know the next RT will come out and I'll be back. Unfortunately they know this and thus have no incentive or motivation to fix things. "I won't take your life won't even take a limb just unload my shotgun and take a little skin"

...and now find that between a sticker and two books there is no ephemera. Not only that, but the cardboard sleeves tear easily when you try to extract the discs. This is totally unacceptable. Not only that, but this edition is not one of the original 3200 I thought I had paid for, and has no original # that id prtsonalized, With the corners cut in this release, eberynody should have got a personalized edition. As far as the music is confirmed it is clear that each of the songs had not been subject to exhaustive remastering of Norman, Jeffrey and company... Just listen to the blandness of it all.. It is more than annoying,, it is sickening, All the more so since we were promised that a first class job would be done. We were supposed to beg Grandma for our inheritance to buy this stinking box of offal? If I really had to do that I would be too ashamed to look grand in the face ever again. What a bunch of greedheads who produced this with visions of pie-in-the-sky profits at the cost oft hose begging nichols and dimes elsewhere. It is just the total sell-out of the fan base even though if cost was a consideration than the 7200 who got in line first could have had their finances better allocated in buying the "All The Music Addition" I will listen to some more of the CDs and make a decision of whether or not this was work of. of which the hype did not reach the reality, Promises were make that were broken. The metal cruelty involved in making people wait for a described product that never materialized was heartbreaking. Not to mention the fact that simple thing like address changes were not taken care of by Walter in the CALDEAD office. My address and was mislabeled and an e-mail to these people was worthless as were Walter's personal assurances they he had the power to fix the mistake. I f there are other who feel like me that they were ripped off on these issues as well as many others, please PM me and I will endeavor to find a lawyer to represent a class action suit in this regard, Perhaps we can settle for triple damages as a class group and then receive the All The Music Additional and be done with the steamer trunk which has no practical value along with the two books and sticker. I'll take $900bucks if those things are possible and laugh my way to the bank, albeit with shitty remstered recordinhg. ~ If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right~

Ok. I'm only on the second set and disc 2 has a skip on Truckin' at the 3:05 point. Anyone notice anything yet? I tried it on 2 players the exact same spot. This is making me nervous because I'm only four discs in... I wonder if it's possible to start a page here or else ware to post flaws when they come up so we can all help each other out. All you have to be is out of the room for a slit second and they might be missed until you relisten a few months from now. I have one friend who also bought a set but the more ears the better. This is an investment.

Marye said:"that the personalized copies are numbered, and the non-personalized copies are not, if that clarifies the issue for anyone." The original info said it was a numbered limited edition of 7200 copies. Numbering is what lets you know that it is limited. If someone else has #5147 and you have that same number then you know it has been over-printed. Where can I send this back for a full refund ??? What I got was not what was stated on the original pre-order.

..."This release is going to make some people very happy and a whole bunch of people really sad." Truer words were never spoken, and it appears the happy people number is getting slightly smaller while the sad (and pissed off) people number gets bigger. It would be interesting to see the financial numbers on this project and how they changed over the course of all these months. Initial estimates, revised estimates and such. In particular I wonder about the impact of the 70 something disc total vs the original 60 something estimated. I know a blank disc isn't so expensive, but a little change can snowball costs in a big way. Maybe the "ephemera" got cut as a result. I also expected all sorts of little goodies in the box. I never put a lot of faith in that ink sketch preliminary design thing, but that photo showed all kinds of little paper goodies and I was sure there would be a map, maybe a newspaper reproduction or something. Very misleading. The fact that ALL the boxes aren't numbered is gonna turn out to be a big deal, wait and see. And there are apparently quality issues with the discs - which I am sure will be resolved but still, it's a hassle. Sigh. Rhino Rhino Rhino, what are we gonna do with you? A sticker. LMAO. In the Fillmore and Winterland and Warlocks boxes we got ephemera AND BUTTONS ;)

Yes the scalper has the advantage in this digital world, but since I received an announcement prior to the announcement online, due to the subscription I ordered for Road Trips 2011, since they KNOW who buys their stuff it would be nice to be treated as such, and given an early shot at limited edition items, since we be the DEADHEADS. This would limit the number of scalpers. 15 boxes on ebay for 500 to 1000 +, these are the beginning bid amounts, not the price. Who knows what they will bring I hope they get NOTHING for their greedy attitudes So, here I wait, while some crook has the box and is not even opening the discs to listen before selling to one who will appreciate There is also some one selling the individual digipaks For $40 to start hmmm 40 x 22 = 880 Just doesn't seem proper. Just glad I got one. All good things in all good time The Sky Was Yellow And The Sun Was Blue People Stopping Strangers Just To Shake Their Hand.

...apparently the stars were aligned for me as I got the personalized version numbered 1253/7200. I've imported all but the last three shows. The shows from 4/7 through 5/10 and 5/23, I had to manually enter the ID tags, which is very time conuming, but thats ok. It's taken me several hours. On the other hand, 5/11 through5/18 did have the ID tags, which saves a bunch of time. So far, I've listened to the the first show and the first set of the second show, and think an exemplary job was done on the mixing and mastering. I'm am mainly a fan of the later Brent era ('87-'90), but this set has made me a full on '72 convert, even if there are moments where it sounds like Yoko Ono is singing back-ups on Playing In The Band. Can I pay another $450 to drop Donna's vocals down a few dB in the mix?...just kidding...or am I... ;) Ephemera or no ephemera, this is one of the most historic and significant shows/tours the Dead played and released, right along with the Fillmore Box, which I missed the boat on unfortunately, and the Warlocks Box, which I ordered with absolutely no hesitation, as with the Road Trips subscription. It's going to take me a while to get through this set as I'm going to listen to each show repeatedly and in chronological order. Hopefully that "Spring '90 Box" doesn't get released to soon, at least until next spring. It's going to take me at least until March to fully absorb this. :)

Found the link to the original order page, and the wording is even MORE specific than I had remembered. http://store.dead.net/new/europe-72-complete-recordings At the bottom it says: "- This product is build to order; based on a 3,000 unit minimum and all units ordered by April 1, 2011 - First 3,000 units will get a personalized version of the product - Individually numbered limited edition to orders placed, 7,200 maximum" Marye, can you let us now what dead.net plans to do to address this issue? Thanks.

I know what your saying Helena and others. I got what I wanted, the music and books and am happy with that. But my faith in Rhino, never real high and Dead.net is on shaky ground. What they sold us and delivered to us are 2 different things. They made a big deal of "limiting "these to 7,200 which people out and then it turns out it's not numbered anyway! If they were going to end up changing direction there was no need for a music only box. The first 3,000 could have been the numbered limited run with the only extra sticker and the music only people would have gotten the book, program and sticker that we all got. They weren't our rules, they were theirs. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice set. I don't think it is the set of all sets and it well could have been. Next time, if they plan on making a limited project hopefully they learn from this. Keep the order process open for a few week window so everyone can get it. Then shut it down. If they sell 10,000 copies then it's still a limited edition. They own the music so who could they be fighting to licence this in a way that makes sense. Even the numbering. Mosaic limited editions are numbered on the inside cover of the booklet by hand. It's not that difficult. And although I don't need the goodies they were the ones that bragged them up. Just sayin' it could have been fun to come up with that stuff. A map, button, newspaper etc. It is what it is. The music is good but they should have planned better and hopefully they will if they do it again. Still have to figure out the scuffed discs in set 2.

While it doesn't matter that much in the end, I do feel that they under-delivered in the "ephemera" department. I'm thinking along the lines of stuff included in the Winterland and Hampton boxes. Pins and postcard size reproductions of maps, flyers, one-sheets, etc. And to take a page from Neil Young's Archives Vol. 1, it would have been even cooler to include a code to download some digital assets (MP3s and cover images!). Maybe someday when they can be released, we'll all score a copy of the videos. I was also hoping for digipaks like the Fillmore West box, but it should not be a surprise to anyone that they are like those in the Winterland and Hampton boxes. I think the box and books are pretty cool. I believe the box is meant to be stood on end vertically - it mitigates the problem of the books in the door and works with how the slots are angled. Ultimately, the music is all that matters and what I've listened to so far is great.

I got mine yesterday and have been listening ever since. Amazing mixing job. So cleanThere are some real gems in here. I can't wait to discover them all. A little bummed that there isn't all the extra stuff in the box that was originally listed and that it isn't numbered as advertised. How can you put 3000 of 7200 on a set of 4200 of the 7200 are not numbered? Doesn't make much sense to me. Rhino has always has packaging issues. Anyone have a bunch of plate glass green Rhino cases that have broken prongs? They were too brittle. My Zappa collection is all like that. In the end though... it's all about the music and this music is exemplary.

Well I had not heard anything since the authorization E-Mail around August 19th so I called in today to Dead.NET to check on my order. They said my order shipped on the 29th and they showed it was delivered on the 30th. They confirmed it shipped to my new address which I had given them in early July. Nothing Here! Called backed and Dead.Net gave the tracking #. UPS Tracking system says it was delievred 2 days ago to my old house! Called back Dead.net and they said it should have gone to the new address as that is what they have. I had updated everything properly. They said they would escalate and someone would call me back. from Dead.NET. I hope they resolve this and ship my box to the correct address. I did not have a personalized edition so they should be able to send a new one to the correct address. As for the box sent to the wrong address I suppose Dead.Net and UPS will have to work it out. I really do not want a set that has been sitting out in the sun for a couple days assuming it was not taken by someone.

Yes, it is all about the music. and for that I am happy. But there was also the music-only version. I got in early, paid more, and got excited for the "other stuff" And it's the other stuff is a big, big, major disappointment. Even the steamer case is cheap. When you open it up, the top practically rips off the hinges. The CD cases are cheap and are already ripping after having been opened once. The "ephemera" (what kind of word is that anyway) is not a joke, it is non-existant. I reserved early, was sent a code to order a personalized copy Jan 23, had my order in March 2, and filled out my personalization info. I put down my daughters names, hoping that this would be a family keepsake that would literally be passed down through my family. Mine came with no number, no personalization, no nothing. I also find it obnoxious that the track and show info is not included in the discs. You know that people listen digitally now. I want to digitize the collection to listen on my current systems, which are all digital, not to pirate the stuff all over the place. To not include it, is just a pain in the ass. And to include it on only some is just sloppy, like it wasn't even intentional. Don't get it. Yes, it is all about the music, except when you sell a music only version AFTER people have bought a full version, and then come up short with the only stuff that makes a difference between the two.

On opening the steamer trunk. The shipping box this thing came in had a "This End UP" warning on it, long direction is up: the end with the handle is "up." Open the case with the handle up and you won't have to worry about the weight of books ripping the hinges off, the cds will be angled up for easy viewing and removing, and the books will be down in the pouch on the lid.

Operation Europe '72 : The Complete RecordingsStatus : Success Opinion : on first look very nice production on the shipping case nice travel stickers, easy latch work, Handle on top for best opening, Cracked that baby, and oh my, two literary items (hard and soft), and 22 lovely digipaks of joyful noise, Will check back after I recover from this. Set number 0010/7200 arrived in Alaska yesterday and I couldnt be any happier right now. Sure maybe some of the things they mentioned were not included but do I care about those things? Not really. Would it have been neat to see/have them? Sure. I got the box set for the music and so far it sounds awesome. Thanks for all the effort guys!!

I love that the digipaks all have unique beautiful artwork and their own liner notes! The steamer trunk is about twice as large as it ought to be, in my opinion. There is a lot of wasted space, as lovely as it is. A more compact case half that size would be appreciated if you were ever to venture another set like this in the future. In fact, I would have rather had a simple 9" x 5.5" slipcase box (like you did for Jerry Garcia "All Good Things") to house all the discs and a miniature book rather than the huge 15" x 11" trunk.

thought I got shorted some discs but book 7 is just a single also - before playing the discs - be sure to look for glue or whatever and so far iTunes is reading them fine - so thanks to those that entered the info no problems here with taking the discs out of the sleeves - but all the same, I'm putting then in a wallet for the near future - tougher time getting the cases back in the trunk really :D

and growing more impatient with every breath. If people are getting them in Alaska and Europe than Canada should be next right? Right?

customer service if you haven't already. Get your tracking # and find out where it is. I did yesterday and found it was going to be in a UPS transfer (or whatever you call it) station not 40 miles from my home. Downside was it had been there for 12hrs and would be there for probably another 12hrs before moving on to the final staging area. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. It went out for delivery at 5:15 this morning. It's 5:15pm now. It should be here anytime now, and then again...... At least I know it's close. Go ahead, call.

My *unnumbered* box came today, and while I'm a bit let down on the lack of ephemera, DVD, limited-edition numbering-- could it have lived up to the months of anticipation even if it had contained those things?-- it's the music that counts. I popped in Lille, as that show wasn't in circulation back when I started trading 30 years ago, and all I can say is "Wow!" It's going to be a great long weekend bopping through this set. Many thanks to TPTB!

Nobody's mentioned it, so maybe it's supposed to be a big secret, but tucked inside the trunk are a couple little white packages marked "silica gel." Is that some kind of recreational drug? It says "Do not eat" so I guess you're supposed to brew it into a tea, or smoke it or something? We're pretty square here in Iowa and not up on all the hep new stuff the kids are doing on the coast.. . . . . . . . . . (Just kidding!)

As previously stated, I can see no identifying number to reflect which of the 7200 this is. But that said, it all looks like a work of devotion to put together. Sure, I would have loved to see some pristene DVDs, etc. but thankfully there are some old VHS tape>DVD transers around of European Dead. This set will take me some time to wade through. Of note, no notification of this crate shipping in, I don't know about the charge$, but my guess is if they haven't charged me yet, then they will. I don't plan on returning this because it isn't numbered or doesn't have all that was originally 'visioned' for this release. We are quite lucky to be able to get this close to the fabled Europe '72 tour. But I will keep those DVDs on my wish list. Along with a couple dozen other hoped for 'Dead moments' in time. Or just continue to hope to slip through the breach in the Tralthamadorian space time continum to travel back to sit in on one of the shows from back in the daze ;o} But I will listen to the tunes and read/look at the books until then. Much appreciated... The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

Ah the joy of discovery.New tracks to wander along. Wonderful sights to see. Since this discussion is as long as the box set I think it could migrate over to Facebook so check out the page Europe '72 : The Complete Recordings and drop a bit of gossip about the truck. I've been living with the box for about 36 hours now and the longer I have it the more I'm lovin' it. The quibbles are beginning to fade away, especially the more I listen to it. At first I didn't like the large oversized box (usually, I'm minimalist) but I'm starting to like the way it looks in the corner of my room. It's a beaut! One question, does any one else have a slight defect on the cover of the hardback book? Honestly, there is a raised shape right in the middle near the right hand side of my book. I'm not complaining- it looks kinda cool- it's almost exactly the shape of Illinois and about a half inch in size. Just wondering if others had it too. If not, hey my set really is unique, eh?

has been well presented and illuminated by several astute deadheads on the two major threads. I will keep my comments brief. 1) this is a no brainer. 1/7200 is so because there is a 7200/7200. As a reasonable person and buyer this is not to much to expect. 2) this is really, really simple. Every cd will have accurate info recorded on it. As a reasonable person and buyer this is not to much to expect. I'm starting on 22 and working my way backwards cuz I can .... This is so beautiful.... just finished Two Souls in Communion...WOW!!!! At this point all songs and cd are accurately identified, as it should be. Disc2 (took all of disc 1 to write this far :-) :-) :-) ) All info listed, starts somewhat distorted then settles down or rather up.... Dang this is sweet. Time to just listen

To the Canadian guy that thought that we European heads had started receiving our boxes, I don't think this is correct. The member of Eurotraders who has received his box now lives in the States. As far as I know, no one in the UK has, as yet, received their box. Reading between the lines I'm hoping that they will be delivered sometime next week. Keeping fingers crossed.

Just dipping into the second disc of the fourth show and everything so far (musically) is nothing short of spectacular. I was worried that there would be too much Donna (sorry Donna fans) but outside of Playing in the Band she is pretty subdued. Great job sound-smiths!!

The music: simply magical! My only regret is that I wasn't in Europe for these shows live. This set is the next best thing! Everything else in the box set besides the music: sorry, but imho you guys overpromised and underdelivered. I don't like to be a whiner so I'll leave it at that (even though I just whined.) All I really need anyway is...the music. Because after all, isn't that why we love the band?

The very polite person informed me my box was sent yesterday. And it was only the second box to be sent to Canada so far. So.... it restores my hope anyways. We'll see. (~}:)

And I must say what a grate night that was for the Dead to start out this tour.Woww! That was a nice ride. That was a (t)rip in the fabric of the space time continuum. That tickled some synapses, that is fo' sure. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.
