How dare they release an amazing show like this on vinyl when it was already available on CD and USB as part of a box set they only release Keith S&^T for the Dave's Picks ----- So AGAIN --- HOW DARE THEY release 4/25/77 on Vinyl for Record Store Day when it was also available on CD and USB as part of a box set. I swear --- if they only had a little f&^^%^n variety. How dare they try to turn a profit for work that a lot of people did. P.S. jrf68 is hilarious and I'm really glad they are releasing this (and 4/25/77) on vinyl. and FYI (for someone who may not know whats happening in the world) there are people selling individual shows from the 30 Trips box on eBay --- and Dead dot Net paid me to say all of this. How else could afford all the stuff they release?

to those that want it. I'm not into vinyl. I have Live Dead and the first GD album framed in my rock and roll den but I stick with cd's for listening. That being said this is an important show and I'm glad it's being offered on vinyl. I am sure it sounds amazing on a nice hifi. Kudos to TPTB for continuing to put out awesome stuff for the fans to buy( or not ). It's a real blessing to be a fan of the Dead and still be receiving these ageless treasures.

economics is a branch of philosophy. i don't equate dead.net's business practices with good economics. a degree in economics is quite different than a degree in accounting or finance. the two aspects of economics that influenced me most during my studies were externalities & utility functions. as for david bowie... i love david bowie. my point was dave lemieux's birthday greeting to him made me nauseated, because i envision dave lemieux only listening to changesbowie (a greatest hits album). yes, it was an uncalled for shot at dave lemieux, but i seriously doubt he cares what i think. believe it or not, i'm actually a chilled person most of the time, although i have been known to go ballistic if something sets me off. perhaps i use the internet to vent my frustration far too often, but where else can you say what you really think? if i talked to people in person the way i talk on the computer i'd probably have 2 permanent black eyes and zero friends. ----

You only get under my skin when you purposely attack people. All your other opinions are provocative yet useful. Though you cross the line like Trump tends to. Like when you said that Dave Lemieux's birthday greeting to David Bowie in the DaP 17 video made you nauseous, that is most definitely not useful. It's outright attacking someone for no reason. So what if he likes Bowie & happened to remember to give him a shout out on his birthday? Good thing he did & it's kind of horrible that he passed on a couple days later. I understand you hate Dave for the releases under his direction, but that is flat out rude. Not sure why you act like that unless you are in fact trying to get under people's skin. All that being said you are entitled to say things as you please.

that would be cool, unfortunately, the cost would be prohibitive. Some of those shows would take up 4 or 5 discs of wax, now what would be that cost? Throw a dog a bone? 4 platters for 90.00? 5 for 100? Doesn't matter anyway, who's got that kind of scratch to buy them all? Not for what you would get. Besides, they really would not put out some of those shows on vinyl that are only 2 track Healy recordings would they? Well maybe, anything for a buck nowdays, right? Pfox, when you say things like "I like K. west" it kinda makes you a target right from the get go. The guy is a flipped out whack job and for that reason only I wouldn't give him the time of day, well alone buy any of his music. It may be good (not) but who cares, the guys a joke. You say the dead's organization is good economics, yet you constantly complain about almost every release, pray, which shows would you like to see released? I would love some more pigpen, and some more 80's shows, but they ain't gonna do it, so all the bitching in the world is not going to make that happen. So, why do you do it? It makes no sense. I got to say this, some of the comments against you have been down right mean, nasty and totally uncalled for, but like you say, some people ain't gonna learn what they don't want to know. Spacebrother, you have felt this pain also, and I feel for you cause you just want more 80's, and that's cool and the comments against you in the past have also been mean, just mean spirited. Love the dead and the music, hate the drama. And yes, this package is overpriced in my opinion. But like PT Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute.

i just post my opinions. i really don't care if i get under the skin of some people. almost everything i write is well thought out. i rarely attack individuals on this site. my barbs are almost always reserved for the band or management, but i get why people don't see it that way. there are scientific studies which show that it is almost impossible to change the opinion of others even when they are faced with facts or scientific evidence. the reality is most of you don't read what i write anyway. the majority who respond to my posts just skim through them to find something to throw back at me. i tried to make the best of this situation. since i couldn't get this show on CD i decided to buy 2 pigpen era shows i didn't have: (dick's picks 4 & dick's picks 16). as for kanye west; i do like his music. the albums: "college dropout", "late registration" & "my beautiful dark twisted fantasy" are better than any studio album the grateful dead ever recorded. i'm not so keen on his publicity stunts, or some of the stuff he tweets, but to be honest i'm not sure if he really is that guy, or if he just pretends to be to get as much media attention as possible. ----

I agree with you that this should be available for download. I grew up on vinyl where you held that 12 by 12 piece of art gatefold cover in your hand as you listened to the music. Pre MTV/youtube, only in your imagination could you visualize what the band looked like while performing. Wondering how did they make this record, what exactly were they doing? (especially if you played an instrument). Your imagination ran wild and you had a connection. So for that reason I still get a kick out of vinyl, as well as that warm sound off the needle. Not yet 50 but I'm feeling old writing this...

Vinyl 30 Trips CD and USB probably can score the cd online a la carte for under $50, however there is no individual download

Whats with you people with an agenda against vinyl...geez...get off it already, what do you care who/what/why people enjoy vinyl. You want to argue the value between hardcover book vs paperback vs digital editions... or how about watercolor vs acrylic??? ....who cares???? Your vinyl experience may be overrated, as there are some poor representations, however my AAA vinyl is FAR superior in my home. example... Why Clapton do his new album mastered in all analog (AAA) ??? Then master it separately for digital? I'm not pro-this or anti-that...But I believe most formats, without compression and mastered accordingly to the format have the ability to sound great. My digital library trumps my vinyl library about 4:1, however, I have much more fun playing an album, as digital format for me is all about convenience... if your comment is not adding value, why do you feel compelled to post it?

I think I figure out why you dislike vinyl. The issue revolves around your use of the technology. First, a vinyl is called a record not a CD. Second, a record goes under your scratchy old needle not the CD. Third, if you have a scratchy old needle you should replace it. This vinyl is amazing, worth the money even if I already have it 30TATS.

Jackson Browne once suggested we call albums 'records' because they are, in fact, a record of a particular time and place in both our heads and hearts, prior to committing to vinyl cd tape, you name it. I prefer his broad and practical use of colloquialism to the 'gotta be this or that' approach that bespeaks a narrow-minded approach to such concepts.

I apologize for inserting this here. I have to start somewhere. A few years ago I bought the summer 72 suitcase set. About a year ago things in my life had deteriorated to the point where I thought selling it was a good idea. I didn't get much, I won't get into it, and I was unhappy even while I was doing it. Now starts my quest to find it and buy it back, or I guess find one and buy it. I'd rather have mine. My name is Daemian, and that's what it says right on the suitcase. I know this is totally irrelevant to all of you, I interrupted, I was the loser who sold it, why don't I just go buy one on eBay, etc etc. I'm sorry to hijack like this. I would just rather start this situation out by addressing some GD people about this thing I did that causes me more pain than I ever thought a thing could cause by being taken away. It's not just the music; I hadn't even listened to the whole thing. It's that the set was mine. It was my piece of my favorite era. It was my prized possession, and I think subconsciously I sold it to cause myself pain because i was so angry with myself for things I won't get into here. If anyone knows an actual person who wants to part with their summer 72 set, or somehow wants to charge me considerably less for copies of the music - which would at least be a start - please contact me at daemian@mit.edu thanks

vinyl, cassette, 8-track, cd, digital -- it don't matter if the music's good. Yesterday I heard L'Amour Toujours on an old 78 on a grammophone -- NO ELECTRICITY!!! -- it was scratchy and the manually operated crank made for some unique wow and flutter, but I was transported in time and space and that one song satisfied me for the whole day. If you get confused listen to the music play ...

Uh, Hi... I didn't know that all a yous was watchin'. I take back the sex comments and the drug references. https://youtu.be/b0FViwZmsGQ Minas, I think you picked the wrong day to start talking about your women's underarm hair fetish. So Dave pronounced it Veneeeeeta. Like Velveeta. I thought that was a short "e". 8/27/72

It is pronounced Vuh-nee-tuh. Not Vuh-neh-tah... or even Vee-net-uh. I used to drive through there for work.

I know this is well after you posted Daemian, but I hope everything worked out for you. I would love a suitcase myself, but unlike you, I've never had my hands on one. I only have the audio (don't get me wrong, the audio is plenty) but I'm just the type of person who likes to get my hands on the product. Get the smells, and feel for it. One of these days I'll pony up for it on ebay and I'll make a deal with you. If it has Daemian on it, it's yours. For my cost of course, I'd need to reorder. Hope you find it man!

This has been released on CD and digital in the 30 Trips Around The Sun box set. We're lucky to be able to get the individual show outside that set at all. Same goes for 4/25/77.

Brilliant release. Everything about it is top draw from the packaging up to the sound and the incredible music. It starts well, with a jammy Viola Lee Blues, passes on through some well played and sung blues to the acid rock of the Other One and New Potato Caboose-and then leaves the stratosphere completely with Alligator and Caution. A superlative show!

Just got this in the mail today. This post is mostly redundant cuz i am just going to state what has already been posted many times here already. 1. I can't believe this hasn't sold out already. 2. The sound quality is stunning I do find it interesting that this is one of the few releases here that don't include a tracklist in the description. You can easily find it online but thought i would include it here anyways. 1. Viola Lee Blues (15:58) side A 2. It Hurts Me Too (4:18) 3. Beat It On Down The Line (3:50) side B 4. Morning Dew (7:39) 5. Good Morning Little Schoolgirl (10:55) 6. Thats It For The Other One (12:04) side C I. Cryptical Envelopment II. The Other One I. Cryptical Envelopment 7. New Potato Caboose (11:36) side D 8. Alligator (11:01) side E 9. Caution (beginning) (4:15) 10. Caution (conclusion) (20:31) side F
