So…if you’re still interested, I have a box of 64 tapes ready to ship after culling the herd. All Dead, mostly 80’s. I’ll even pay postage, just want to see them go to a good home. Let me know, but I am not very tech savvy, (it was hard for me to even get to where I could post this), so please be patient.

You can probably get an estimate of shipping costs by measuring the approximate weight and size of the box they would fit into. Naturally, as you say, the destination is also a factor.

The size of the final package will determine the price scale which increases in steps by weight.
There will be a price scale for domestic shipping, and different price scales depending on overseas regional codes. The codes often seem to be determined as much by postal infrastructure as they are by proximity.

These rates should all be posted on the website of whatever delivery service you choose, be it USPS, FedEx, or whatever. These days some services have better coverage in different regions, while another is better for a different region.

For example, when I ship stuff to the US, I use a courier service, something like UPS, but when I send things to Europe, it's better to use a Post Office product.

For another example, back when I was trading blank tapes and postage for someone to dub shows for me, I put the tape in an envelope, weighed it, and bought the return postage for that envelope before including both the stamped return evenlope and the tape into second package, which, of course, also had to have postage. So, if all you're asking for is postage, that's totally reasonable. The only hold up is that no one knows how much the postage will be yet. It's hard to put your hand up and say, "Me," under those circumstances.

Another concern for international shipping is whether eyebrows will be raised at customs inspection, but there is no way to predict that. Essentially the tapes would be a gift with no commercial value.

I suppose collectors more knowledgable than myself could probably guesstimate the weight based simply on the number of tapes, but if you can somehow weigh the boxes, a ballpark figure should be just a few clicks away. Then, if someone from Kansas, or someone from Germany, or like myself, from Japan, or wherever, shows interest you can quickly refer to the chart and have an idea how much they should expect to send to you. You don't want to settle on a price, and then find out that isn't enough to cover shipping, right?

It also saves you packing everything up, taking it to the post office, and then having the buyer back out because postage was far more than expected. I reckon people would like to know what they're getting into before going forward. Personally, I imagine it's gonna be more than I can afford right now. Can't spend money I don't have, regardless of the quality of your collection. However, at this point, even if I was seriously considering your offer, imagination is the only thing I have to go on. See what I'm saying?

I completely agree with you, these vintage tapes could still provide a lot of joy to someone.
A lot of people still listen to tapes.
It would be a travesty to have them end up in the garbage.

It is over 300 tapes; closer to 400.

I would like a decent home for this carefully collected batch of tapes.

I don't know how much shipping would cost as it is a large collection from the late 1960's to the early 1990's. I suppose it depends on where you are located. I am in California north of San Francisco.

There are JGB tapes in the collection as well.

A lot of effort went into this and money too.

If you cannot pay the amount necessary to ship it with the Casio cases that they are in (its about 6 of them full), I don't know what to suggest.

    Thank you for your interest.

    Deadhead1974:

Pretty quiet around here, I see.

At the moment I'm extremely short on spare change for shipping, and raise that the question of international customs' interest in, or perhaps ignorance of such content. I do find myself salivating, but ya can't spend what ya ain't got.

Hopefully you can hang on to them until a more stable enthusiast turns up.

Roughly how many tapes are there?
What do you reckon domestic shipping will be?

Might be easier to find a taker if they know how much postage will be needed.

A lot of people probably filled up while the Internet Archive was still open trading on all formats.
I for one still have a tape deck, sadly didn't binge on the Archive when I could have, and can't afford the string of limited edition official releases that are so tantalizing.

    Good luck!

Hi! I know this is something of a longshot, but I'm hoping some kind soul here will be able to help me out. I'm new to the community and have nothing to offer for trade except a few things which I've gotten from the Vineyard - which, I'll assume, most of you already have anyway. Anyway, I'm looking for copies of the run of shows between 3-21-90<>3-26-90. I'd ask for the 3-18/19 shows, too, but I won't be greedy. Anything I can get from the run of shows in March 1990 would be great. It would be beyond great actually! Dozin' at the Knick and Without a Net are among my top live albums. I'll provide the blanks and a pre-paid SASE. The only thing this will cost you is a little time. If you can help me out, PM me. Thanks so much!

"Strangers stopping strangers just to shake there hand" new to this I was at the reunion shows in '02 at alpine valley and looking for a copy of the shows from both nights. Would love to get my hands on Phil and friends, ratdog, hunter from both nights and of course the other ones. I have been on the archive site and most of what I am looking for is there but the songs stop short there's no hunter and they are missing "he's gone" not sure why but anyway I have some of the sound board copies of shows that followed when the ingenious idea of being able to buy the show at the show was introduced. I really hope someone can help been looking since the show. Thanks

I'm confused here... Furthur did not play at the Wachovia Center in WB, PA this past spring. The Dead played there LAST spring, on 4-22-09, NOT 4-21. I'm not sure which show you are looking for.

I seem to recall that there's at least one Queen vine in the Vineyard already. Nowhere is it written that Deadheads can't like other music. Quite the reverse. Put me down as a fan of Freddie's power pipes, though I never really followed the band. Wotta voice that guy had.

A tape exists of this vintage show in Palo Alto: I used to own it. I can not find even a set list existing online. Hi Heeled Sneakers was played for sure... The date has been variably listed as 12-11-1965 or 12-18-1965, depending on when the Muir Beach Acid Test actually took place. Someone out there has a copy! Where are you? Greg Tyler Allison

Yes, I realize this might be an outdated offer as there are many ways to download music these days, AND hoping someone out there might appreciate receiving these crispy DAT's... You will find below the list of 46 Dead and half dozen JGB on DAT that I am offering. If you want these, need not do more than send along your information including a valid US UPS address so I can ship them out to you. Of course, once you get them if you discover that some of these shows might be ones others would appreciate, then feel free to pass them on in whatever way inspires you... You can email me directly at antonio@SoundingSpirit.com with your response. Although I have nothing to offer in trade except good karma, I'm asking if anyone's willing to send me some shows. I lost my considerable collection of all things Dead during the summer of 2008. While I was hospitalized for depression after my wife's death, I was evicted from my apartment, and lost everything. While I'm rebuilding the rest of my life, it would be great to be able to listen to some music, if you've got the time and inclination. Thanks to the community for being here! ...all the years combine...

I am thinking this thread might be somewhat Dead (^_^) or even worst - buried! Posted my offer 2 weeks ago (see below) and haven't gotten any responses or even see any signs of life on here! Offer still stands as of today (and indefinitely until I post here other wise!) Let's get on with the show.... Brother "A"

Highvide your offer is kind, but I think most people here are now getting all the shows they need digitally as auds from Archive.org and as Soundboards from one or two well known well known torrent sites. Alternatively they are getting them from the the Vineyard on this site. Just about every show ever recorded by anyone is out there now.. You might get more interest if you publish a list of the shows you have..if some of them are new sources someone might take up your offer. Paisley..why dont you join the vineyard on this site to help rebuild your collection. Or go to some of the well known on line places to torrent or downlaod the shows you need. Good luck to both of you CB

I agree with badger. Your offer is very kind but for the work and time that is required to get your recordings going, I could downlload 3 x as many shows from the net or sign up for vines and all I have to do is go to my mailbox and grab them. What I am getting at is that it is really easy to obtain shows in this day and age with minimal effort. What I am interested in is getting set up to do my own taping. I'd love to get some advice on how to get started... "The dire wolf collects his due while the boys sing round the fire"

Greetings. I have a giant crate full of bootleg concert cassette tapes by the Grateful dead as well as Weir, Garcia, and several other none-related artists (Bob Dylan, Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane, New Bohemians, tons more...) The tapes belonged to my Dad, whom left them with me after he passes away. If I know my Dad, I know that he would want these tapes to be owned and cherrished by unique individuals out there that shared the same passion he did. I know that tapes are becoming obsolete with the turn of the technology age, but still, I have no use for these tapes and I want them to go to a new home. I don't care about making any sort of a profit off of these tapes,....all I ask is to maybe cover some of the shipping charges. I'm willing to stretch 25 cents a tape, and will send bundles of tapes at a time upon request. Only downside is, I do NOT have a list,....and no I honestly do not feel like typing up a giant list. Basically, just I'm just wanting to send out random surprise tapes like a grab-bag deal. If you specify Grateful Dead ONLY, than I can make sure that only Grateful Dead tapes will be sent,.... My Dad was a huge Dead-head so that does make up most of the collection. However, if you're up to receieve any other artists mentioned above I can throw those in as well. Most of the tapes come with handwritten track listings and some even have bootleg artwork. Here are 2 photo links to my dad's collection... (pics are slightly blurry but you get the idea). http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c82/AtTheGates2099/?action=view&curre… http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c82/AtTheGates2099/?action=view&curre… That's not even a 5th of his collection,...much more, I just didn't want to dig them all out of the box. Again, they're basically FREE,...a minor donation for shipping would be appreciated... No list availible. Randomly sent. Anyone interested, please message me. Thanks!

Hello folks, I have been a lurker off and on here for years, can't remember the last time I posted anything. anyway, I have about 1600 Phish discs and about 700 Grateful Dead discs that need a new home. Most of them have been in storage in spindles for a few years, some have been listened often. Most phish are from schoeps (often FOBs) sources and the dead shows are mostly from charlie miller. My wife and I have a baby on the way (due in early november) and I want to clear out some space and trade for some essentials. let me know, I'll send you the lists. I am looking to trade for at least 50 discs at a time, but prefer 100. Antonio

I have the live show recorded from June 25, 1995 minus Lucy in the Sky at the very end...does anyone have this? Also, Dylan played Everybody Must get Stoned as the last song of his set that night and I don't have that either. Any help would be gratefully appreciated!
