So…if you’re still interested, I have a box of 64 tapes ready to ship after culling the herd. All Dead, mostly 80’s. I’ll even pay postage, just want to see them go to a good home. Let me know, but I am not very tech savvy, (it was hard for me to even get to where I could post this), so please be patient.

    You can probably get an…

You can probably get an estimate of shipping costs by measuring the approximate weight and size of the box they would fit into. Naturally, as you say, the destination is also a factor.

The size of the final package will determine the price scale which increases in steps by weight.
There will be a price scale for domestic shipping, and different price scales depending on overseas regional codes. The codes often seem to be determined as much by postal infrastructure as they are by proximity.

These rates should all be posted on the website of whatever delivery service you choose, be it USPS, FedEx, or whatever. These days some services have better coverage in different regions, while another is better for a different region.

For example, when I ship stuff to the US, I use a courier service, something like UPS, but when I send things to Europe, it's better to use a Post Office product.

For another example, back when I was trading blank tapes and postage for someone to dub shows for me, I put the tape in an envelope, weighed it, and bought the return postage for that envelope before including both the stamped return evenlope and the tape into second package, which, of course, also had to have postage. So, if all you're asking for is postage, that's totally reasonable. The only hold up is that no one knows how much the postage will be yet. It's hard to put your hand up and say, "Me," under those circumstances.

Another concern for international shipping is whether eyebrows will be raised at customs inspection, but there is no way to predict that. Essentially the tapes would be a gift with no commercial value.

I suppose collectors more knowledgable than myself could probably guesstimate the weight based simply on the number of tapes, but if you can somehow weigh the boxes, a ballpark figure should be just a few clicks away. Then, if someone from Kansas, or someone from Germany, or like myself, from Japan, or wherever, shows interest you can quickly refer to the chart and have an idea how much they should expect to send to you. You don't want to settle on a price, and then find out that isn't enough to cover shipping, right?

It also saves you packing everything up, taking it to the post office, and then having the buyer back out because postage was far more than expected. I reckon people would like to know what they're getting into before going forward. Personally, I imagine it's gonna be more than I can afford right now. Can't spend money I don't have, regardless of the quality of your collection. However, at this point, even if I was seriously considering your offer, imagination is the only thing I have to go on. See what I'm saying?

I completely agree with you, these vintage tapes could still provide a lot of joy to someone.
A lot of people still listen to tapes.
It would be a travesty to have them end up in the garbage.

It is over 300 tapes; closer to 400.

I would like a decent home for this carefully collected batch of tapes.

I don't know how much shipping would cost as it is a large collection from the late 1960's to the early 1990's. I suppose it depends on where you are located. I am in California north of San Francisco.

There are JGB tapes in the collection as well.

A lot of effort went into this and money too.

If you cannot pay the amount necessary to ship it with the Casio cases that they are in (its about 6 of them full), I don't know what to suggest.

    Thank you for your interest.

    Deadhead1974:

Pretty quiet around here, I see.

At the moment I'm extremely short on spare change for shipping, and raise that the question of international customs' interest in, or perhaps ignorance of such content. I do find myself salivating, but ya can't spend what ya ain't got.

Hopefully you can hang on to them until a more stable enthusiast turns up.

Roughly how many tapes are there?
What do you reckon domestic shipping will be?

Might be easier to find a taker if they know how much postage will be needed.

A lot of people probably filled up while the Internet Archive was still open trading on all formats.
I for one still have a tape deck, sadly didn't binge on the Archive when I could have, and can't afford the string of limited edition official releases that are so tantalizing.

    Good luck!

Hi there. Does anyone have the show info for the 30 downloads from LAST year? I've only recently figured out how to change the notes on the songs in my iTunes and want to be able to notate my songs with the correct locations and dates. Thank you very much!!! Sorry, a little poking and I found the link. Thanks anyway.

I've got a few Ratdog gigs I can throw your way. A double show from July 1st and 2nd at Humphrey's by the Bay 2008 and a show from Negril, Jamaica 1-31-10 and all 3 are awesome. The Humphrey's weekender also has Gov't Mule sets to go with it as they were the opener. I can omit those if you would like but send me a message and let me know if you would like them!

What a remarkable show last night...full of pleasant surprises and those AH HA moments that only a live performance can bring...with everyone in their best and most supportive Dead vibe! So of course i'd LOVE a copy of the entire show...even if it contains that long moment while we were waiting for bruce's monitors to be adjusted...and finally Bob picked up his amp and twisted it around so it would point to bruce and the keys. pm me at dylanland at yahoo dot com if you can help out. thanks, and peace. ken ps, someone also sat on disc three of my cornell show a couple months ago...if any can help. i can B&P or trade, primarily Dylan.

I have 5 reel to reels that I'll send to you if you reply to WCrum01@gmail.com.No.1 appears to be a tape of the show released as One From the Vault. The list on the back includes Dark Star so there is clearly more besides that show. And some tunes from the Vault show are not listed, so ... 8-13-75 is written inside the box. No. 2 is labeled Golden Gate Park/SNACK/GAMH and appears to be the other 3 shows from 75. This may be the first place I heard the SNACK set. No.3 is labeled 4/29/11971 but the list on the back and a piece of paper inside says 6/19/76 & refers to WNEW, so it may have been taped off the radio. The tape itself a Maxell is wrapped in plastic and labeled Side III & Side IV. No. 4 has lists for 'Closing Night at Fillmore East 4/71', Universal Amphitheater, July 1, 1973, for 2/14/70, and for 1/1/1973. No. 5 is labeled 4/14/72 and 6/23/74. You want them, they're yours. Send me an address.

You couldn't go wrong with 8/6/71 and Cornell 77. You could throw a dart at a bunch of good quality dates from 73. At least three from the Europe 72 tour. One thing I would caution though. Go for 5 star quality complete or almost complete shows. You will be more satisfied in the end. In my older age I know I hate fragments or poor-sounding quality. Just one head's opinion. If nine more answer I'm sure you'll get nine more opinions...

My favorite eras are Jan-April '69, Spring and Fall '72 (but you should definitely pick up 8/27/72), Oct-Dec '73, anything from '77 (most people probably prefer the Spring but I like the Fall too) and Jan-Feb '78 (I might be alone thinking this tour of California, the one off in Oregon, and 6 shows in the Midwest is great). After that, the consistency goes down, though I still like fall '79, Fall '83, Fall '89 and Spring '90. Good luck!

Yes, I realize this might be an outdated offer as there are many ways to download music these days, AND hoping someone out there might appreciate receiving these crispy DAT's... You will find below the list of 46 Dead and half dozen JGB on DAT that I am offering. If you want these, need not do more than send along your information including a valid US UPS address so I can ship them out to you. Of course, once you get them if you discover that some of these shows might be ones others would appreciate, then feel free to pass them on in whatever way inspires you... You can email me directly at antonio@SoundingSpirit.com with your response. Hey all. I'm looking to expand my collection. I only have a couple dozen shows but now I am looking for many many more. Any information to help me get started would be appreciated as I am not really sure where to begin. Love it all but I am a HUGE early 70's fan. Thanks and can't wait to get collecting!
