30 Days of Dead

Who needs a miracle everyday? We sure do and we bet you could use one too!

Consider this our gift to you for being so darn loyal... Each day in November we will be giving away a high-quality 320Kbps MP3 download. That's 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, selected by Dead archivist and producer David Lemieux! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win a 2015 Grateful Dead calendar.

Most of you know the drill by now, but for those, that don't, here's the deal:

You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand all November long and win a prize while you're at it.

Today's Song

Hint: A rare Phil song, sung by someone else…

At the end of a perfect sync

At last a perfect sync with LMA, no delay, even had to turn the volume down on the separate sources to make sure both were actually playing. Bet i won't do that again. Still i can definitely relax with a very smug grin knowing i have got this one correct. Good times.

I had that same experience last night with Bro. Esau - they were synced so perfectly, I couldn't tell if they were both playing!

Hopefully my search won't be too long for this Passenger - I gotta clean the house for company tomorrow ;)

Destination seen unclearly

Another one of those tightly wound 70s tunes that all sound alike until you put on your head phones. I never read the commentary until after I've posted my guess, but the first set clue would have saved me at least an hour! Fortunately, I enjoy the hunt!

From a show...

with a rare first set opener; in fact, this is one of the last times they opened a show this way.

nice clue

Nice clue because it wasn't the first one I thought even though I couldn't recall seeing a tape with that particular opener (odd, seeing how hard core I am), then I found another kinda, sorta rare opener but no. I figured you weren't referring to the shows where the whole first set was a rare way to open up with, so I skipped those and then I saw it and went, ahh...

Shot in the dark

Shot in the dark think I got it on the 1st try. 1st time this year to do so. Your set opener helped confirm. Thanks for giving.

Thank you Dave.....!

For sharing and helping us discover entire shows and runs that contain so many great 5 star versions of the selections.

Gonna to have to blast myself through the wall with this version of Passenger on the big speakers later today. Take notice of the sound clue at about the 2 min mark.

Ain't nobody messin' with you, but you. :)

finally get to comment

cause this is real important
found it.
and wanted to give a thanks to whoever pointed me to a morning dew at spectrum 3/24/86 cause i gave it a listen and have been enjoying the whole show since. bob is in top form for this one, women smarter, sailor-saint. also killer high time here. anyway whole show is tight and a great AUD copy available.
and since we were tossing around stella versions the other day, stumbled upon one tonight 7-1-79 seattle, nice matrix version there.
anywho- was just killin time waiting to comment. on the topic of today's chioce, took me a while to measure it up, at least as far as i can remember. that was hours ago. not complaining though, soon i will miss swimming in the vault for hours, soakin it all up.
and oh yeah, i always thought i'd heard a passenger live but that would have been impossible due to the fact i got on the scene after they stopped playing it. coulda sworn i'd heard it once though, but some things are kind of fuzzy from back then. thanks 30 days for helping piece my memory back together.

Braggin' rights

Was at 3/24/86 and while set two was painfully short - quality over quantity. The dew was a mind melter. Did see a few passengers in my 285 show career that started 2/4/79. And, oh official hint giver, can we get hints that are actual hints and not just facts. Yeah, I know, waa, waa, waa. Of course, we can eliminate 54 of them due to the band line up leaving less then 50 to sort through.
