30 Days of Dead

Who needs a miracle everyday? We sure do and we bet you could use one too!

Consider this our gift to you for being so darn loyal... Each day in November we will be giving away a high-quality 320Kbps MP3 download. That's 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, selected by Dead archivist and producer David Lemieux! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win Grateful Dead 50th Anniversary Collectible Playing Cards.

Most of you know the drill by now, but for those, that don't, here's the deal:

You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand all November long and win a prize while you're at it.

Noblesville, IN, Deer Creek Music Center
The 1973 (and one version in 1974) arrangement of TLEO was fast, with a fun bridge, but when the song returned to the repertoire in 1976 (with one version in 1975), it was in a much slower arrangement than it had been in 1973-1974

Box of Rain

The release of this show has been called for many times. It has one of the greatest jams they ever did in the second set. As I was on the road for thanksgiving this is a great selection to come home to. Hope everyone has a great holiday season, and thanks again Dave!

picked it again first

felt like a good place to start, but didn't get a good sync, so kept digging despite feeling the sound was the same, only to come back around and try a different source and then it was inline.
anyway some mentioned not getting my "hint" yesterday about the dickins, didn't really mean it to be much of a hint except that it was a week before brent passed along, and also was the beginning of the end of the scene being the same, the dead at the top of their game, but the crowd started getting a little ugly. remember people crashing gate at deer creek show, climbing over the back fence. (it was like a good 15 feet). anyway there were good times but there were things not so good. also Jerry started singing "the last time" this year, felt like he was talking to me (not that i thought he was going to die) that people were acting up and they might be getting a little tired of it and had enough. -told you once and i told you twice, you never listen to my advice, this could be the last time i dont know.- better enjoy it while it lasts. much like these 30 days, cant believe how fast the month has gone. its the final countdown...
