Joined:10/3/94 ETR versionI’ve heard this one before, but finally was able to work the official version into rotation as I took a freak freely day between finishing first half of 93 before heading next into 1967.

JONATHAN, I took note of your post about 93 vs 94 mixes as I had been noticing some anomalies/inconsistencies in the 93 mixes during my quest. The individual Channel levels on some of the tapes are often very different, almost like the source was someone’s in ear mix verses some of the other, better ones, like a few of the Pearson offerings, which sounded great, just a touch of ambience versus the more prominent matrix mixes many folks often complain about.
So you got me to do a very superficial comparison today using the official releases from spring 93 and fall 94. I thought the 94s were perhaps a touch cleaner/fuller, but had different stereo imaging. The 93s were often much wider with Bob prominent all the way out in the left speaker and the keys all the way to the right, same with the drums. Jerry, Phil, and the vocals centered. With the 94s, things overall seemed more clustered In the center, with Bob and Vince halfway between the respective speaker and center. The drums seemed less localized? Both good, just different…
BUT…the big difference was the ambiance. 94 utilized more ambience, very nicely imo. Not overdone like some of the ultra matrixes many don’t like, but more so than the 93s.
The feeling of being in the room was immediately apparent with the 94s, which I really dug!
Well, hopefully mañana I’ll start on 1967…
Onward!

Joined:That F... cheerHearing Country Joe shout that out and get the response from a huge festival audience was memorable to say the least. I saw him at two UK festivals, in 1970 and at Bickershaw in 1972. Both times his performances were really enjoyable. As others have said, the first two Country Joe and the Fish albums are essential listening. Yet another one gone. Sigh. We're all getting old.

Joined:Betty Cantor-JacksonHello there everyone 👋
I don't know how to use this site and I'm trying to find out some information.
I recently decided to look up and find out about Betty with the idea of sending her some thanks.
I was surprised to see that there's a gofundme page for her.
I also found out that apparently there's a fake gofundme page for her 😬
I would like to be able to donate some money to help her, but I feel worried that I might be donating money to a scammer.
Has anyone got any idea how I might find the legitimate go fund me page for Betty?
Ps Sorry this is off topic, I just didn't know how else to message anyone 🙏 - daverock
Joined:Country JoeThat's sad news. I saw him twice, once with the Fish in London in the 90's and once solo and with another band in Norwich - that must have been the 90's too. I actually met him then briefly. I remember that he had very blue eyes. They looked as though they had been made out of marble.
Those first albums, "Electric Music For the Mind and Body" and " Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die" are classics.
